this radio dj "reviews" his hospital stay. he feels he would be in "better hands if i had nurses that were sexy". grrr!! tired of men thinking nurses are pin-up girls in stiletto heels wearing white miniskirts! what a jerk!

hey whats up? big boy here. as a lot of people may have noticed i have not been on the radio much the past couple of days. that is because i have been in the hospital. since i have not been able to share some of my experiences on-air i thought i would do it right here online.

first of all i am in here because i have a skin infection called cellulitis. it is on my right leg and it really sucks. it has been very painful but thank god for pain meds. when you really need them they are truly a blessing. as far as the rest of my experience, i guess it has been okay other than a few major flaws. first off i know no one likes to be in the hospital (other than my dad). one thing that is truly messed up in the health system is in order to be admitted to the hospital you have to go through e.r. now just to walk through the door of the e.r your looking at about a $2,000 charge at least so if you do not have insurance or you are poor you’re screwed. i feel like that is wrong and should be stopped but you know how that goes doctors and politicians walk hand in hand.

my next biggest complaint is by far the food. the nearly 8 grand price tag it cost to be admitted to the hospital should totally include some 5 star food like steak and lobster. i realize it is not a resort but i do think part of the getting well process should be great comfort food. my next thing was the room accommodations, with it being a hospital it obviously gets a great vote for being clean but the beds are basically cheap foam and cotton covered in water proof plastic. i swear my bed could be used as a flotation device. i have greatly enjoyed all of the buttons my bed has to offer as i treated it like a theme park ride all weekend. it has kept me amused. however i have to be in this bed pretty much at all times. my back and my butt are killing me. they need some nice pillow top mattresses so people can sleep well.

my last thing is maybe the least important but it would be a nice change in community hospitals. i know there are a lot i repeat a lot of sexy nurses here in the tri-state. during my stay i had none. i had a few that were as evil as they were ugly. one lady was like 70 and she seemed as if she had just had a stroke. there was even one bigger than me with very hairy man arms as well as a few that were very nice and helpful. i just feel that i would feel in much better hands if i had nurses that were sexy. i would want them stabbing me with needles, checking my vitals and doing to me what ever the doc ordered. any chance to get them to touch me would be amazing. well that is my hospital experience and what i feel that it should be. please leave me your feed back below

Why is it always the guys with cellulitis??

I have had a couple different patients like this that are so gross and try and hit on me and other nurses. They seem to complain a lot too.... One of my favorite docs on my unit told one complaining pt "This is the ONLY place where you can press a button and have someone at your beck and call." I know that the hospital is not the most comfortable place to be but patients need to realize that they are there to get better and not have a vacation.

ahhhh yes mission accomplished here as well lol look how easy all the "sheeple" follow, i personally am fine with not "showcasing my intelligence on here", im a fine nurse all the way around the same as the rest of you, we r all different and thats nice because pts are all different, and sorry i dont take the time to bust out all the big words and good grammer, to impress upon the readers how smart i am... gpa is a small part like u say personality and attutude are a big part too.... and r u drawn to the busted messed up looking hairdresser for good results? yea when i owned my own salon i made it known that u might be a great hairdresser and a nice person but if u r jacked looking your business will suffer so yesssss ppl do care what the hell ya look like, i love a good rise and wow how easy it was foe some of u..... others probably wer smart enough to read between the lines, the ones that payed attention in psych anyway. have a great night folks i havent a thing else to say being the dee ta dee i is cuz i shore do maka myself looka stupid for havin me a different o-pinny

How does hairdressing compare with nursing? When you're a hairdresser, of course you have to look a certain way, looks are your job. In nursing, looks are NOT your job. Apples to oranges here, dear.

BTW, what's a "sheeple"? And what are they following?

Are you 13?

For those of you who are offended by what you read, remember, Evansville is the 160th largest radio market in the US, just behind places like Huntington WV and slightly larger than Poughkeepsie, NY. Sounds like a case of big mouth/small pond-itis.

If he had been my patient (and he would have because there's no way I'd let any of the women I work with near him) we'd have discussed his attitude and set an expectation for his behavior. We even have a pt rights/pt resposibilities hand out we could discuss. Nobody messes with the women on my team when I'm around. They're the best team in the business IMHO, and they've always got my back. And that's why I love them (in a strictly platonic and professional way ;)) and look out for them as best I can.

And if I found him standing on the window like that he'd be sedated, in soft restraints and waiting for a psych consult right quick.

you have never heard of a sheeple? yes i am a 13 year old nurse lol, and its not apples to oranges think about it really... im done here i take it ppl get bored and like to knit pick rediculous things, this is another reason ppl dont go into nursing. its not ok for anyone to have an unconventional view on something eh? i sure the heck can find better things to do than than continue to read all the bellyachers comments on here and respond to them...... big mistake coming here see you all the lovely folks i have had contact with, and goodbye to the ones that cant figure it out lmbo

lol why is everyone so mad, I think its pretty funny come on am i the only sexy nurse on here who enjoys the fact im super smart and sexy and represent a real life fantasy? my husband had a real portrait pin up girl style of me in a sexy nurse costume tattooed on his leg he wears shirts that say i feel safe at night i sleep w a hot nurse, its a hot profession loosen up folks lol, just sayin........

Yeah, but that is your husband! I'm sure if patients started crossing the line with you it wouldn't be nearly as fun. ;)

oh excuse me honestly didnt mean to offend anyone , i was just trying to make light of the matter, sorry again, and its not a cartoon its a real portrait and i was just adding to the fact that men can be pigs and stereotype nursing as a hot profession, i am suddenly not showcasing my intelligence now i guess cuz i have a sense of humor...... hmmmm i bet my 3.9 gpa begs to differ o well honestly was just trying to have a laugh.... woops guess i came to the wrong place.... only staight laces stodgy and serious need respond huh, one more thing tho um ppl do care what ya look like... had many family members over the years say o i just know u take such good care of so and so by how nice u always look. yes i take the time to look nice so in turn i give that kind of meticulous care.

You're right. People DO care about looks, but when people can't see you like, they could care less what you look like and make assumptions based on your grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Lay people are allowed to come to this website and read what we write on here. Your attitude and writing isn't helping the nursing profession.

When your patient is crumping, your appearance is the farthest thing from their mind. I don't go to work to get told I look nice by patients and their families. If I want any praise, it's acknowledgment of my hard work, like the vast majority of us nurses do. Hopefully one of these days, you'll feel the same way.

....exactly.

I am finding it harder and harder to believe you are actually a professional, given the way you speak. My 13 year old nephew has better language (and typing) skills, that's why I asked.

So, nursing is comparable to hairdressing? Wow, I've missed out on many years of tips. Starting an IV or putting foil in someone's hair are on the same level now? Making someone look nice is JUST as important (and requires just as many skills) as saving their life or keeping them alive? All this time, I've placed WAY too much importance on what I do day to day at work!

FWIW, not that it matters, because there certainly are embarrassing nurses out there, but I don't believe Mikesgirl is a nurse at all.

Regardless, the radio guy is just a wannabe shock jock. His whole hospital review is lame. Pillowtop mattresses? Good one.

I wonder if the radio personality who goes by "Big Boy" with cellulitis on his leg fits into this "sexy" category. :)

Come on now we all know that there are only a few things in this world sexier than a big weeping cellulitis leg!;)

He also forgot to mention the nurses didn't leave a lemon swab on his pillow :lol2:

Presumably he isn't well heeled enough to know he should be asking for turn down service. ;)
