So I was interviewed yesterday by the recruiter and then the director. The director gave me a tour of her department. Does a tour mean they want to hire you? Or giving applicants tours is required of the interviewers?
She then asked me to come back day after (that is today) so the manager can interview me.
This is my second job interview. Just wondering. And why am I being passed down to be interviewed by the managers? She's already the director...
As others have commented, there is the strong possibility that that first recruiter was interested. Multiple interviewers will have the opportunity to get together and compare notes. It is possible that one person may have cued in into something really positive (or negative) that others may not have caught.
A tour is a little bit less formal but is just as critically informative for the prospective employee as it is for the employer. It's your chance to check out the place and ask appropriate questions, which is what employers are expecting to see. A chance for you to shine.
It's also a chance for a potential employee to fall down flat on his/her face with some inappropriate faux pas.
Some Directors consult with their managers as part of working with the manager to develop their managerial skills.
So good luck with your quest as you continue on.
Thank you all for commenting.
I went for the interview. It was very brief. The director and manager were just talking about me then I show up and proceeded the interview with the manager.
It was so short. Basically talked about the same things as the director in the previous interview. I guess the director wanted the manager to just see me, literally, because it was so quick! Then at the end, I was told that the nurse recruiter will call me if I got the job.
A day later, I called the recruiter to ask about the status of my application. She said that it is still under review. Now, it's day two, no call from them.
I have done so many applications online. Even at places out of state. This is discouraging.
I wouldn't have even called until atleast a week had passed. Don't come off too desperate for the job. What they said is most likely true, it is still under review. I would give them time and check back in if you don't hear within a week. Sometimes things bounce back and forth between HR and the unit manager until a candidate is contacted. I know the wait is hard but be patient. It's definitely a good thing that you had a second interview.

Did I ruin my chance by calling them?
Everyone gets a tour. It's actually common in all job interviews, not just nursing. As a side note, it is really hard to gauge whether you will be picked at these things. It can go great and no offer. It can go awkwardly or even badly and then there's an offer. Sometimes it is not even about you. Just do your best and move on to the next. Keep building those interview skills. Someone will say yes.

It's another part of the interview process.
Some are including interview and shadow all in one day; I've had that experience and had received offers from both positions and had those jobs; the most recent is my current position at this time.
