I just got the mail and I received my denial letter from El Centro. The cutoffs stated earlier on the DCCCD board are correct.
However, what is incorrect is my prerequisite GPA. They calculated it incorrectly. They said I have a 3.77, when in fact I have a 4.0. With my GPA on support courses, I should have been admitted into the North Lake campus.
I just wanted to get that out there, and make sure that people who also got denial letters knew that there is a possibility of a mistake.
It makes me mad that I busted my hump, and I get a denial letter because someone screwed up. How many more applications were treated that way?
I did take Psychology two times. Once in 95 (B), and then again in 2004 (A). Isn't it the schools policy to take the latest grade? They don't have policies against taking classes more than one time.

How on earth could they possibly calculate a 3.77 if you have a 4.0? All A's =4.0 right? There's nothing to calculate. I'd be mad.
Yeah, the last time I checked all A's meant you have a 4.0 :uhoh21:

Sorry, but what is the DCCCD? Thanks.
Dallas County Community College District, I think. I take a telecourse with videos from there. If I'm wrong, someone will come along and correct me.

Have you called them? I retook several of my classes and they took the latest class which was the highest grade. I would call them and tell them that they messed up! Good luck!!

what a horrible mistake I would go and talk with them. If it is there mistake they should make room for you in the program.
I hope you get it handled. I can imagine how upset you are

It is very sad. I wonder how many other GPAs had mistakes...to the student's benefit or not.
I know I have a 3.77, but I sure hope my "denial" letter says 3.77 GPA on pre-reqs with 17 support credits with a GPA of 3.82! I sure didn't bust my butt to see a mistake saying that I have a 3.00 or whatever! I may not get in, but at least deny me correctly! lol
Good luck, KSparkman! :)

I'd get down there quickly. They owe you an explaination at the very least or an automatic place in the Fall class.
Good ole' El Centro....

I don't know how that district/college works, but I do know that some schools here in CA they take the average of the two grades if you take the class twice & passed with at least a C the first time. If you failed the first time, then that's when you can replace it with the most current grade. Regardless, call them as soon as you can and find out! Good luck to you :)
