I Feel Done

I told my son I was jumping through hoops. I watched as I could literally see him think about me doing a jump through a hoop, as he asked how big they were.

Him: How do you jump through hoops?

Me: However they want me to.

You have to remember, for every 1 negative experience you read about, there are 100s of positive experiences you never hear about. Most people would rather vocalize their displeasure than things that have gone well. You also have to remember, as harsh as this may sound, some of these people are getting in trouble for valid reasons. They have messed up or made a mistake and they are here looking for validation that their instructor is out to get them. I've had nothing but great clinical experiences. My instructor is helpful and the majority of the nurses on the floor are excited about having students and letting us do things.

I don't get your point. That nursing school is difficult? What were you expecting? Maybe you can learn from the experience and develop a thick skin because you are going to need it when you get lit up by a doctor and other nurses. I have been a nurse since 06 and I am telling you there is no time to sit around feel bad for yourself. You may "be tired" of hearing different things from different people, but you better learn to succeed no matter what is happening. You control your actions and responses to situations. You don't like something? Tell someone. You think nursing instructors are in "thrones"? Why because they expect you to do homework be on time? You will have bosses in "thrones" and you better learn to deal with situations that are good and "bad". I get you are venting..now..get back to the books.

OP, I hear ya, sister. I'm so tired of hoop jumping! Out instructors are human. and thus they are flawed. Some of them are REALLY flawed, but they hold our fate and sanity in their hands. It's exhausting, but it does END! And every semester is different. Out of three, I've only had one awful, so there's still hope for you. :)

Keep your chin up and keep trudging along. Eventually you'll get to the finish line and you can forget about all the obnoxious people who got in your way :)

Don't give up! There really is a method to their madness. I was lucky to have awesome professors in school, BUT they did things that made me think sometimes they weren't right in the head . I remember telling my family/friends they are trying to drive me crazy and this is for the birds and what on earth does this have to with nursing and can I please have ONE day off and most assuredly not in language I would repeat here. Okay that being said, now I understand how all that craziness was an absolute gift. From that I learned to respond (knowledge driven) not react (emotion driven).That includes work-place drama. I also learned to clarify/verify everything. I'm sooo glad I did this, putting up with all that has paid off as this has been one of the most rewarding experiences even on my worst day.

I don't think remembering that other people are enjoying NS is going to help the OP's struggles with her own crappy experience....

And I don't think dwelling on all the bad experiences help either.

I don't get your point. OP explained what she meant by the throne statement and it had nothing to do with getting homework done on time and everything to do with them saying they want it one way and then ten minutes later saying they want it done a different way. And yeah, let's just "tell someone" when we don't like how an instructor is, I'm sure that works out in the students favor most of the time.

And if you "got that they were venting" you wouldn't have posted such a mean, not helpful and pointless reply.

I get ya..... I try to remember that as insane as it seems to me as a student, they had to put this program together and manage it. So I try to look at it that way. I do have my favorite instructors though........ Some are just better than others, easier to talk to, easier to learn from.

Same boat here. I do my work all of it plus some study allll the time make great grades but i feel unprepared for this clinical experience. I know the instructors try to explain real life but there is no way to cover so many topics so quicky. I am in my first clinical right now, i think sometimes they may forget not everyone has worked in hospitals. Examples no i dont know where that is no i have never seen such sad things no i dont know what in the world this disease is or what to do for it. Some make you feel like a complete idiot for asking questions well it was not in my book and never discussed in class how would i know? But this is a learning experience trying to soak in as much as possible but still freaked out i do love nursing though i know im going through all this madness for a reason lol keep your head up lots of nurses in the world already if they can get through we can too. :)

Did you even read what the op wrote they did not mention anything about not doing homework or thinking nursing school was goin to be a vacation dont be so judgemental if you are a nurse you went through this same experience every nursing student needs thicker skin i agree with that but it doesnt happen overnight
