Can someone PLEASE tell me if you know of a " specific" unit that is actively hiring new grad RN's who have passed NCLEX? I currently hold a license in Alabama but I am willing to travel ANYWHERE!! I completed an ICU preceptorship, I have worked as a CNA ( 1 YEAR) PCA (2 YEARS). I do not care what type of nursing it is, I figured this out during my clinical rotations in school ....I love what all areas of nursing have to offer BUT I would like for my first job as an RN to be somewhere that I can learn, I watched a RN come into the hospital that I worked at as a PCA, struggle with some basic skills although she had worked for many years as an RN because her previous experience consisted of LTC and Home health... I know that this may not be true for all LTC/Home Health positions. I have prayed that God would guide me in my job search, so now Im going to do my part and leave it in his hands, I know that he didnt bring me this far for nothing. Any advice/ information you are willing to provide me with will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

I live in Missouri and I hold a Missouri License. I just got hired for the ICU at a Level I teaching hospital that has a New Grad Residency Program. Send me a PM for more info.

San Antonio hospitals have openings. I work for Methodist and I know if you can sell yourself they hire new grads. Lots of ICU positions open. Goto www.sahealth.com to apply for Methodist.

Hope this helps.

You can also try the Navy. They offer great benefits and great training, also a nice sign on bonus. You might also get help paying for your student loans. The pay is about the same as civilian nurses and will eventually be greater. Try these two links.

I live in Atlanta but I heard from another student who graduated this past May that Arizona has a better market for new grads right now. I believe she moved to Tucson. Sorry I can't help more. The market here is not thought to be great from what I hear. Plenty of freezes!

I actually live in Tucson, and a lot of our hospitals are on hiring freezes also. I signed a contract with one of the local hospitals..they're paying for my school, and in return I'm supposed to give them 4 years of work after I graduate and pass NCLEX..but they're on a hiring freeze, and last semester they let like half their new grads out of their contracts because they couldn't afford to hire and train them. :uhoh3: I might be in the same boat as the OP when I graduate next May!

When you think about it, your situation is actually pretty desirable if you can move for a job. If they pay for your school and THEN let you out of a contract, you're free to work wherever you want. It's far worse if you are locked into 4 years of service, and they don't have jobs/ won't put you in the department/ area you want to work. . . .
