I dont care what part of the United States you live in!!!

Can someone PLEASE tell me if you know of a " specific" unit that is actively hiring new grad RN's who have passed NCLEX? I currently hold a license in Alabama but I am willing to travel ANYWHERE!! I completed an ICU preceptorship, I have worked as a CNA ( 1 YEAR) PCA (2 YEARS). I do not care what type of nursing it is, I figured this out during my clinical rotations in school ....I love what all areas of nursing have to offer BUT I would like for my first job as an RN to be somewhere that I can learn, I watched a RN come into the hospital that I worked at as a PCA, struggle with some basic skills although she had worked for many years as an RN because her previous experience consisted of LTC and Home health... I know that this may not be true for all LTC/Home Health positions. I have prayed that God would guide me in my job search, so now Im going to do my part and leave it in his hands, I know that he didnt bring me this far for nothing. Any advice/ information you are willing to provide me with will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

Try the Memphis TN market. Good luck.

Thanks so much!!

There is absolutely NOTHING here in Southern California!!! No one is hiring. All the area hospitals will only hire under a "new grad" position and when they open up, which is about twice a year if we are lucky, they only have about 8 positions and about 500 applicants.. I WISH I could move out of state but my husband is stationed here in SD and so that is not an option, I am seriously stressed over this and dont' know where else to turn, I can't believe I did all that schooling and heard all the hype about a nursing shortage and then I feel like I have just been squashed coming out of school, and no job anywhere in sight, just a "sorry, we are not hiring new grads right now". There are a lot of RN positions listed, but when I apply to those, they tell me I need experience.. It's a NO WIN situation here!!!

Specializes in Emergency Department.

I just moved to MD and I can't find a job either....I came from Texas and thought it would be easy to get hired! Most of the hospitals have extern/intern positions for new grads (which are all taken by the students that had clinical there). The military does not hire unless you have one year experience...how to get it is the question. I was told to be a Red Cross volunteer at a military hospital then apply after I have some experience. May have to do that!

have you tried long term care? nursing homes home health etc.

Specializes in Derm/Wound Care/OP Surgery/LTC.

Unless you are willing to work LTC, I would suggest staying away from Central Florida too. We are completely on lockdown over here when it comes to hiring even experienced nurses. This is particularly frightening as the demand for nurses is usually so high in Florida.

Good thing you have the option to travel...hope you find somewhere to land real soon!

I'm from Oklahoma City, so it's great to hear the job market is good there. I may move home after NS :)

Oh yes, OK is good with RN openings. We need a lot of Nurses here, whether it is in OKC or here in Lawton or other areas of OK.

You should go to this website called the California Astrology Association. You should order yourself a Wanga Doll. I know it sounds crazy. Get one for prosperity and job hunting. They work! I am a spiritual person and believe in God and all of that. I moved back to my homestate of MI. MI has the highest unemployment and joblessness in America. But I needed to get back to family. I had no job lined up when I got back here. I purchased some money luck kits from there and I have not been without work or money since. As a matter of fact, I have money left over and am not living paycheck to paycheck when all around me is begging me for money because they are not working. As a last resort, you should look into this.
