I dont care what part of the United States you live in!!!

Can someone PLEASE tell me if you know of a " specific" unit that is actively hiring new grad RN's who have passed NCLEX? I currently hold a license in Alabama but I am willing to travel ANYWHERE!! I completed an ICU preceptorship, I have worked as a CNA ( 1 YEAR) PCA (2 YEARS). I do not care what type of nursing it is, I figured this out during my clinical rotations in school ....I love what all areas of nursing have to offer BUT I would like for my first job as an RN to be somewhere that I can learn, I watched a RN come into the hospital that I worked at as a PCA, struggle with some basic skills although she had worked for many years as an RN because her previous experience consisted of LTC and Home health... I know that this may not be true for all LTC/Home Health positions. I have prayed that God would guide me in my job search, so now Im going to do my part and leave it in his hands, I know that he didnt bring me this far for nothing. Any advice/ information you are willing to provide me with will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

Here in Orangeburg, SC our hospital recently hired 30+ new grads in all areas of care. It is a good place to get experience and we are not far from the beach and mountains. Go to www.trmchealth.org and there should be a job link. Good luck.

Are you serious? Thats where I have been looking...although I dont think I have updated my application to them since NCLEX!! Thanks!

You need to go to one of their job fairs and really sell yourself. I put in an application and resume and didn't hear anything at all. Then i went to a job fair they had and was interviewed on the spot (as a new grad) and within a week had an offer. I know they are still hiring new grads, because there are a few just hired to my floor. Good Luck. PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks! I'll look into that!

Or another thing you can do, is just walk on the floor and try to find the floor Manager. Introduce yourself and sell yourself. It will not always work, because they might not be there or so, but I know some people got hired that way too.

Job Fairs are a good opportunity to show yourself as well. We hired from job fairs too.

As far as visiting multiple locations to see nurse managers is concerned...

I totally agree, I would love to do that, right now funds are an issue ...thats why I am so happy for the feedback I have received, it really helps me to see where I should be looking and who is need of nurses. I dont really think it will help here...the hospital where I precepted is in the process of shutting down, my last few weeks in the nursing program we had a large hospital to shut down that released approx. 450 experienced nurses and another large teaching hospital in our area that fired 250 people (twice, within a month 1/2) during that time they also had a great new grad program (that is no longer available) and had to tell them at the end of their training that they no longer had anywhere for them to go. We also had a hospital 45 minutes north of Birmingham to close and now the majority of those nurses are commuting here. Needless to say, this is not the best place for new grads at the moment. I know things will pick back up ...I just hope that it is sooner than later! I dont mind relocating, it actually seems kind of exciting!!! Thanks again for all the support!!
