I am such a dissapointment. The semester is over and once again I failed nursing school. I truly hate myself and don't know where I go from here. I bought all the required books and NCLEX books, I hired a tutor, I study atleast 3-4 hours a day, I started taking mental clarity medication and did every question from the online aid provided by the school, yet I still fail.
I don't know what to do with my life or where to go from here. I really want to be a nurse, but I just can't seem to make it. I know I am not the brightest bulb in the bunch, but I was able to pass all the prereqs with an average of 3.80. I feel so disgusted with my life, how do I tell my kids to aim for greatness and being able to do whatever they put their minds to, when I've failed not once but twice.
I really don't know where I should go from here, I am 35 years old, I am too old to be so stupid. I really thought my efforts would prove successful this time around.
sorry for the rant...
Thank you so much, for the kind words everyone. I failed fundamentals of nursing.I am meetimg with the program chair this week, with hopes of learning exactly what happened. I didn't fail any of the class exams, so I am not sure where I went wrong.
I will keep you guys posted, I am so thankful for this site because it is the only place that I can come to vent and know I will be understood. Thank you!!!
Since you say you failed fundamentals of nursing I guess that you are in the beginning of the program. I was going to suggest that if you had completed at least 50% of the program that you look into Excelsior College to finish, but it appears that you don't meet that criteria. You need to meet with the chair and try to fix this. Good luck.
Something does not seem right if you passed all of your exams. Hopefully they will help you clear up where problem is. It seems like you are doing everything you can study wise to pass the exams....and you are. So you just need them to tell you where the problem area is so you can refocus your efforts on that area.
I am half way through Fundamentals in an LPN program and I am looking forward to a finishing and moving on to something more interesting.
Worth Remembering !
I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

I agree, something doesn't sound right if you passed all your exams. How is this program set up? I agree meet with your advisors, they have been where you are and will be able to help you. Keep your head up. If it is something you truly have a passion in then do it as many times humanly possible.
Ok so you are obviously a smart woman and have the motivation--I ditto the inspiration the others put forth to already! Here's what I have to add.. Fundamentals, if set up like it is in my program, is pretty darn hard! It is the semester of nursing, it's a ENTIRELY different way of studying, Probably doing labs/skills, and clinicals too if it's like mine! Most people that I know find it a complete culture shock. MANY people go from a 3.8 in pre reqs to either failing or near failing!! If you passed all your tests, was it lab/skills that you failed? Or are you doing clinicals and failed there? I'm shocked they didn't tell you why you failed. My school is very good about communicating to us where went wrong and wants strengths and weaknesses are. I suggest you set up an appointment with an advisor and find out where you lost the points otherwise you won't know how to improve! You CAN do this!!
Honestly I found that semester the hardest out of the 3 I've completed!! Keep your chin up and keep trucking :)
Quick update.............
Spoke with Asst Dean at school today, I asked that we go over my final and all 4 unit exams. Thank Goodness I did that, because we were able to find the error. Each student is given a print out of each exam grade, reflecting overall grade versus overall question; Well the print out I was given for unit exam 3, which showed me receiving an 84.5, was not the in my record. My record had me failing that unit exam with a 76.5. The Dean called the program chair who couldn't explain how this happen, but claimed that they have students input the data in the records so he/she couldv'e made the error. The Dean pulled out my exact exam and sure enough I had an 84.5, which means I PASS !!!! I barely made it, but I did.
I PASS ya'll, I can't believe it. I truly feel GOD turn it around for me and I am so grateful.
Thank you again everyone, for pushing me to speak with the school and for your kind words. I am also going to take the advice of the poster that sugessted I see my PCP about getting tested for a learning disability, because I feel I have to study more than most to obtain average results.

This is really a blessing and I am so happy for you!But even in a situation where you would have failed you must to remember to always have faith in yourself.Beating yourself up and saying your a disappointment will only deepen the current situation and make it harder to look forward when the negative thoughts is really not the case, but only a result from a bad situation. Also, picking yourself and trying again would have been an example to your kids of how you never gave up and still reached your goal, because as many have said this is not a unique problem and there are many who are RN's today after failing a semester.I'm very happy that everything worked out,but you must remember to always stay positive and look for solutions towards a brighter future in future situations.

Oh dear, I wish I could give you a hug as well. I know how disappointing it is to not make it through a class. The only failures out there I see are ones who didn't give it a try since they were too afraid to. So in my book you're far from a disappointment! Exams are difficult and you gave them your best shot.
