Hello! I am a 32 year old single mom of a three year old. I went to school for nursing and received my BSN. I took boards three times, and failed. I have met the maximum amount of years to retake boards. I will need to retake nursing school, and right now in my life this is not an option. I was wondering if anyone knew of any other job that I could do with a BSN? I have been working as a tech for far too long and would like to be able to support my son.
Thank you all!!!!

A member of my family has a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and works as a drug rep. for a pharm. company. She does not need a nursing license. She hated floor nursing and decided to take a different route right from the get go. Just an idea.

I don't believe you're actually considered to have your BSN until you pass the boards, but I could be wrong -- I thought you were considering a "GN" or "Graduate Nurse" until you passed the exam. Like I said though, I could be mistaken.Have you considered Kaplan? Otherwise, as Zadia said above, consider contacting the BON to see if you would be eligible to take the LPN NCLEX.Good luck to you!

BSN is a degree not a title, per se. So once you graduate from college/university & have your diploma you are in fact a BSN. Upon graduation you are a GN until you pass your boards and earn your RN license.
Like the other poster said, consider pharmaceutical sales rep or if you have strong managerial type skills consider looking into clinical research coordinator or clinical research associate. there are a number of contract pharmaceutical research organizations throughout the US (Covance, Quintiles, Celerion, PPD, etc.) that contract with CRA's to monitor drug trials or hire/contract research coordinators to work as study managers. The company I used to work for only required a bachelor's degree but one client wanted a BSN (not necessarily an RN) for a clinical research coordinator as they felt a BSN was better prepared to have the critical thinking skills that are beneficial to the industry.

First of all don't give up! I wish I could give you my study materials. Remember abcs airway, breathing, circulation, and safety. Also try to review med surg such as s/s of systems like endocrine. Study drug classifications and know current drugs. Whatever happens do not lose faith when one door closes one opens up.

No one "is a BSN," it's a degree you earn, just like no artist is "a BFA."
Ideas: Drug rep, consultant of sorts, don't know if it's legal where you are, but you might be able to find a position teaching in vocational schools, e.g. Medical Assistant programs. You could also go into participating in or conducting research, or like a drug rep, representing research initiatives. Hope this helps!

you must not be from the united states. i am assuming you are from canada. if that is the case, see if you can appeal the 3x rule or try to write the lpn board in canada.
if you're in the united states, you can take the nclex-rn again in another state and endorse it to what ever state you are in.
good luck to you!

i disagree with the statement above. you have a bachelors degree in nursing, which is a degree. be proud of that[color=#ffa07a]!
someone suggested going to another state and endorsing your license to your state. i live in nevada and i know that is a loophole here. we can take the nclex a maximum of 2 or 3 times, but if we fail we can go to california and retake the test and endorse our california licence to nevada. that might be an option to you.
lol @ PneumothoraxThanks for correcting me.
