I can't believe my Micro-biology grade!

My winter term ended yesterday, and we got our grades posted today. Last night I was having nightmares that I didn't do very well. Have 3 big zits to show for it.

It has been a worry that I'm the current secretary for my schools PHI THETA KAPPA chapter. If you go below a 3.5 GPA you get put on probation and a 3.2 you get kicked out of the Honor Society. Our Micro is a 4 credit class, so I have been very concerned with my boarder line A/B grades. I had to get at least an A on the final to get an A in the class. Luckily when I checked my final grade about 10 minutes ago, my instructor gave me an "A"

I'm so freakin excited & relieved at the same time. I just had to share it with anyone that can understand.

I can't believe I got through that class, wow, was it was hard!!!

WOW!!! Good job! I used to be president for my Phi Theta Kappa chapter and I'm still making up the grades so I can graduate with the society "blessing' I guess you could call it.

How long of a winter course was it? A month or two? You did awsome!

I know what you mean I hate micro! I have dreaded this class since from day 1. I have an A in this class & don't know how I've done it (I do work my butt off). We have midterms next week sooo we'll see if I keep the A or not. I agree that it is hard probally the hardest class I've ever taken!! Congrats on your grade YOU earned it.

I just started Micro this semester--we're about 5 weeks or so in; and it's literally kicking my butt! We have a major test on Tuesday which I'm totally unprepared for; although I have been studying! Any hints on how to learn the Kreb cycle and the whole DNA stuff easier???

Good luck on your test!

My biggest hint on how to make the subject easier, is to pray and have others pray for you. :)

I went to my instructor and ask him to go over things I didn't understand. Also, I taped all my lectures, (listened to them while cleaning house, making dinner, driving around running errands ect) made flash cards, bought the study guide and the CD ROM that went along with my book and used them frequently. I feel disappointed that I really didn't "learn", the subject, :nono: I feel that I memorized instead. :o

Prayers coming your way for an "A!"

Thanks so much for the advice! I especially like the part about prayer~~~I've been using it often lately! lol

I bought the study guide that goes with my micro book--but it's just so general compared to what the professor wants us to know! I'm trying to read the book--paragraph by paragraph (which I admit--I usually don't have time to do) just so I can get the whole picture and maybe understand it better.

I think it's just the simple matter that the material we just finished is hard in itself--the Kreb cycle and DNA replication--and so forth. We already started lecture on our next unit which is mainly bacteria---that stuff is so much easier for me to pick up than all the chemistry and equations!!!

I'm going to look at the cd that came with my book today and see if I can make sense of it!

Oh--did I mention our Micro Prof is an ex- nun????? She's an extremely smart lady--only she expects the same from us!!!!

I found good old fashioned studying worked for my "A" in micro. It was tough and it did feel good to see the "A" at the end. But whatever works for each of us...

Congrats and good luck.

Congrats on your A!!

I plan on taking Micro during Summer I. I am so scared!!! I don't even have a clue as to what I'll be studying. At least with my A&P that I am taking now is kindof a gimme on what it's all about.....the body.
