I can't believe I have a "c'mon" already today!

Published

A kid comes into my office, "I threw up this morning, and I was spitting up blood, and I felt fine but now I feel nauseous. Dad knows, he says I'll be fine."

Drank a bottle and a half of water so far this morning, afebrile, no other symptoms, good color, no cough, completely alert and able to answer all my questions quickly, and easily.

I told the kid to bring me back spit up blood and make sure he vomits in my bathroom. :p

Also, c'mon teach! Why'd you send me this kid?

Edit: Apparently, he has a state test this morning in math class...

:wideyed:

What did you say??

I told the family member that that was NOT a solution! I also let the family member know that (from what the office staff said) the student had a very rough year after her head was shaved last year.

The family member was blaming the student for not washing her hair, blah, blah, blah.

:nono:  YOU are the parent. YOU are responsible. I'm all for teaching our kids responsibility. But they cannot treat themselves for lice.

COME THE HECK ON!

I have another c'mon moment!

2nd grade girl walks into my office yelling "I need new shoes"

me: Sorry, this isn't a shoe store, what's wrong?

2nd: my foot is really wet

me: How did that happen?

2nd: it fell into the potty

me: How on Earth did your foot fall into the potty? Your feet should be on the ground when using the potty

2nd: Mommy says not to put my butt on the seat unless I'm at home, so I put my feet on the seat and squat down to pee

Yep, this is my life...BTW, mommy thought it was hilarious and most certainly did not teach her this!

My c'mon now happened yesterday and has carried into today.

Sent a student home with lice, after, I was informed by my office staff that last year dad shaved the students head after they got lice. A FEMALE STUDENT!!!

She was traumatized last year after it happened. Today she is brought in by family for me to check her and she still has lice, hasn't been treated in any way. Family says to her "well, looks like you're getting your head shaved!" Student starts tearing up.

NO! I counted to 1.5 (that's as far as I could make it) and shut that sh** down real quick.

Are you kidding me?!?!?! So help me, she better not come in tomorrow with her head shaved.

Quite 19th century of them. I guess if you don't want to deal with it at all. Wonder if she is getting them from home?

My counselor hat on today. Anxious kid comes in at end of lunch for Pepto, comes back 10 minutes later bawling that he has to go home. Mom comes to school to try and talk him down, well we know at this point kid IS going home. C'mon mom!

We aren't allowed to send students with lice home anymore here in MA.

That would be my guess, she apparently had lice many times last year. :(

We want the policy changed, the ones that get sent home time after time are likely the ones who need to be in school the most. But it will be like pulling teeth.

Sad, doesn't sound like any education would stick. Hopefully she can break the cycle of ignorance and get a decent education.

I think i am getting blessed with a shiny new policy this year - i'll tell you more next week when i'm at liberty to speak about it. Suffice it to say though, i'm happy.

Our school would never go with this, the kids are physically close every morning and literally head to head at times.

Back on topic:My c'mon now ocurred about 1 minute after students started arriving

5th grade girl "I woke up at 6am and went to the bathroom"

me: okay? was something wrong? diarrhea? pain when you pee'd?

5th grader: "Eww, no. I just don't think it's normal to wake up just because you have to pee"

me: That's perfectly normal, promise!

5th grader: "Well, I think it's weird and I wanted to tell you about it"

me: Okay, you've told me, now go to class

I'm still confused about that entire exchange...

My first conscious thought, every day of my life has been "I need to pee". My son can get up, eat breakfast, watch Mike & Mike for an hour- THEN pee. How is that?
