Hurst online review anyone???

Published

Currently studying for the NCLEX and I just purchased Hurst online review. Has anyone on here used it and felt it was a good help to pass the NCLEX?? Also how long did it take to finish the whole review and do the practice questions( I have about 3 weeks ahead of me before the exam). If you used Hurst did you use any other materials with it (i.e PDA LaCharity or Saunders)??

RN2BJ I am sure you will be fine! I got a 97.1% on my ATI predictor test. Used Hurst to study by filling in the book, and reading through it. The q reviews are fantastic Hurst says if you average an 84/125 you should be able to pass the NCLEX. I used LaCharity and enjoyed it. I used the NCSBN site and did all of the available question banks. All of this in a week (8-10 hours a day) because I had to reschedule my exam two weeks earlier than planned! Took it today, stopped at 75. My name was posted to BON about 5 hours later. You will do just fine, just do not let yourself get nervous! (I was nervous but mildly, still at the decent level.) Save your nerves for after the exam. I finished and was sitting in my car when a girl walked out and VOMITED all over the grass. I doubt anyone who saw it even judged her.

First of...CONGRATULATIONS RN!!! This is a big accomplishment you must feel so relieved!! I still have a few weeks..testing on July 29th but I've been freaking out because of reading lots of post about ATI and Hurst not being that good :( I got a 93% chance on my ATI predictor. Did you end up using ATI to practice questions or to study? Also I have the NCSBN 3 weeks plan...it ends in 7 days, do you think that's enough to complete all the Qbanks?? and how beneficial where they to you on the NCLEX? As far as Hurst I'm still in the process of watching the video and completing the workbook then I plan on rewatching them and then do their Qreview. For LaCharity I try to do the chapters that go along with the subject Im reviewing. I'm weak when it comes to pharmacology and also Peds..how did you review for that. I'm using Saunders CD to practice questions as well as all the other resources I mentioned. How WAS IT??? I mean how hard, and how did the Q difficulty compare to the Hurst Qreview and NCSBN Qreview?? Lol i know that's a lot of question but it's awesome to know someone who used the same resources i'm using passed with 75 q. Congrats again!!!:)

Thank you so much! It sure does feel amazing. I did not use ATI to study at all, only did the comprehensive test. I did all the banks on NCSBN in about 5 1/2 days doing about 170-200 a day. I would do about 5 banks in a sitting and then relax or study something else and do 4-5 more. I think they helped me, but not extremely. I enjoyed Hurst review a lot, it helped refresh a few things. I think it was similar to Q review (SATA was harder on NCLEX) and maybe about or slightly easier than NCSBN(but maybe I was burnt out doing so many at a time). I did not review Pharm at all. I am decent with the major drugs, but I knew I would stress myself too much and still not learn enough. There is a study guide that floats around here, not endorsed by all nurses but I read through about half of it (ran out of time) and it answered about 4 of my exam questions as soon as I read them. (try googling all nurses NCLEX study guide) I had a lot of SATA, drag and drop/put in order. A few times I had 3-4 SATA in a row, man I did not enjoy that! Review your labs!

I do have the study guide, i was planning on reading it a few days before the exam as well as reviewing labs and meds. I hateeeeee SATAs!!!lol, I really hope I can figure them out when they're thrown at me on the exam day (praying hard!!!). My plan is to finish all of NCSBN Qbank in the coming week and go over Hurst Material at least twice before the exam, and LaCharity of course!!! I'm also gonna try and answer all the SATAs on the Saunders CD, hopefully that helps. Your post gives me HOPE!!! I was going into SEVERE anxiety reading all the threads about how hard NCLEX is and how such or such review is no good. All i can do now is study, PRAY, and do my best! Once again congrats on passing, and kudos on finishing the NCSBN Qbank in only 5 1/2 days!!! :) AWESOMENESS!!!:up:

I did both Hurst Review and Kaplan (I won Hurst Review course after I paid for Kaplan). I definitely believe that Hurst is the better especially online. It makes it so much simpler and easier. The Kaplan is worse than the nursing school books. If you study the Hurst you'll pass. I took 5 weeks to go through it, but you can do it in 3 or less if you study and put time into it. Good luck!

Did u only do Hurst? How many times did u watch the videos and what did u use to practice questions?

I used hurst only. Did the live review and followed it up by listening to the videos in the car on the way to and from work. I'll second what another commenter said and said that the content itself was not directly helpful. However, the content was presented in a way that helped me think the questions through "nclexy". The suggestions at the end were of most help to me. The qbank questions, in my opinion, were ridiculously harder than the NCLEX questions. I'm sure they do that intentionally so that when the computer shuts off you might feel like the NCLEX wasn't really hard.

I took the NCLEX on 6/21 and passed with 75. I took hurst the week after Memorial Day so I had less than a month to study plus I started work the week before I took it. I walked in positive that the lack of study time was going to doom me. But ultimately, it wasn't memorization of all of nursing school that got me through. It was the ability to think things through in the right way that did it. If your nursing school did a good job, you've already got this down.

Good luck to you, love. Try not to psych yourself out too much.

Thank you so much for your input! It's very hard not to "psych myself out" because of this exam since I have no idea what to expect!! But I'll keep on studying and in about 3 weeks I'll finally meet the NCLEX monster!!!lol :) congrats on passing btw :)

I certainly learned a lot from Hurst because you can repeat any sections which you did not retain the first time. Also on hurst, you have three 125 question test to take which will show the correct answer when you are done. Learn from your mistakes. I also did Saunders online for the "select all that apply" questions because I had quite a few of this type on my NCLEX-PN exam. I also choose to see the rationals to see my mistakes and learn from it. Some mistakes may just be reading incorrectly, so read the question and answer slowly. We did a lot of ATI in school which helped tons. I suggest choose one of these per day and spend at least 3-4 hours daily, if not more, take breaks and hydrate. This is one of the most important tests you will take so make it a successful one. God bless

I only did hurst online. I did 100 qs per day and did at least 1-2 topics a day for 2 weeks. Passed nclex with 75Q. If you did well in school (As and Bs) you will be fine.

I was a B&C average student but A student have failed NCLEX too so I don't wanna rely on school grades. I mostly struggle with Pharm, Peds and SATAs that's what worries me the most. I hope Hurst will help me pass too I've heard so many good things about it. Thanks for your input and congrats on passing :)

I took the Hurst Review in person, which is presented by someone on days one through three, then the remainder of the book is completed at home while watching the videos. Let me just say... I LOVE Hurst Review. Focusing on the core content, rather than a million practice questions really helped me. I graduated May 16th studied as much as I could for about a month, took the NCLEX-RN June 24th and passed in 75 questions. I truly feel that the Hurst program helped me succeed!
