Great article! I am just finishing my second month of my new job as an RN. I have definitely experienced the feelings you mentioned in your post. I have quite a drive and don't know anyone from around here, but everyone has been so welcoming and helpful. I may struggle some days, most days at least once, but I can easily be reminded of my reason for choosing this profession when looking into the eyes of my patients as they thank me for taking care of them. I use this as motivation and to fuel my fire to becoming the best nurse I can be.

Firstly, congratulations on graduating! I'm not sure where you live, but there is an NCLEX review course popular in the south called Hurst. I used this and passed the NCLEX a couple of weeks ago. It is core content based, which I found super helpful! It costs around $350 for the online course, I believe. I really liked the set up of their review and just thought I would pass that on to you. Good luck in your studying and on the NCLEX!

It sounds like you definitely need a break!! I focused on Hurst and went into more depth on subjects that I needed more help on that they did not cover as thoroughly. This included EKG's, disaster protocols, isolation precautions, etc. Between their 5th day material and the extra information I researched, I felt prepared. I will note that I made my own chart for insulin times, as I found Hurst's example a little unclear. I realize this information is a little random, but I just wanted to let you know what worked for me! PS: I don't know about you, but the morning of big tests, specifically the biggest test of my life, I like to jam to some energizing songs that get me pumped up and feeling confident! Just throwing that out there

Best of luck!! I didn't do the review as much as I originally wanted to, but I don't think I would have ever gotten to a point where I was "done" studying. :)

I used it exclusively, besides practice questions from textbooks. I did better on the NCLEX than the Q-Review, but still found their questions very helpful!

I took the Hurst Review in person, which is presented by someone on days one through three, then the remainder of the book is completed at home while watching the videos. Let me just say... I LOVE Hurst Review. Focusing on the core content, rather than a million practice questions really helped me. I graduated May 16th studied as much as I could for about a month, took the NCLEX-RN June 24th and passed in 75 questions. I truly feel that the Hurst program helped me succeed!

Hi, I am a newly graduated RN preparing to take my boards in a couple of weeks. My short term goal is to become a travel nurse for maybe 5 to 10 years, while I am young. I am interested in Oncology nursing, specifically. I also enjoy every field! Just wondering what steps I should take to start travelling? I would love to work for a couple of years in a specialty, then get with an agency. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or advice on how this process goes. Thanks, in advance :)
