Hi!
Does anybody go to Hunter for Nursing?
I got accepted into the school as a different major but I am really thinking about trying to get into the program for next year.
Thanks

Hi. I just wanna make something clear. I dont think I was denied because 3.6 was a bad GPA because it isn't. I think I was denied because their was alot of students in my class who had 4.0's and 3.9's. Their were some really smart kids who busted out all A's in pre reqs. So many people had perfect grades...so they took those people first. I think now at Hunter the spots in the nursing program has increased. I was their from 2001-2003. Dont worry you guys will most likely get in..but at least have a back up plan so if you have to transfer it wont put you a year behind. Thanks and good luck.

Hey! i'm in program at Hunter (2nd semester right now). When I applied my overall GPA was only 3.3 (3.5 in the sciences). My NLN score was 129 (although i was in the 96 th percentile).I didn't think they 'd accept me, having heard all the previous stories of people not getting in...Yet still they accepted me. Til now I still can't believe it. I was so ready to go transfer to BMCC or Lehman. In orientation, they told us they turned down like 360 good applicants not really because of their grades but mostly due to lack of seats. So i'm not 100% sure how they go about these things

Really???? wow...thats cool.....so they look at your composite NLN score right? BEcause my friend told me that some schools look at their individual test scores and used the point system, every subsection of the test should be 50% or above of the percentile......I did soooooooooo terrible in english, 29/60 questions=failed...if they look at inividual section... I really don't know how hopefully I could get in. Will they also tell u the rank when u get the acceptance letter?
yeah they do look at ur NLN score in conjunction to your GPA. I have no idea if they look at each section...No they don't tell you your rank in the letter. But be hopeful, not everyone in my class had high GPAs or NLN scores.
thanks a lot:D
Thank daisywill
I also apply to NYU as a backup...but it will cost me a lot, so I might have to take out loans
This year Hunter will take 80 people...not that much considering a whole lot of people applied
Anyhow, will know by May 17...right now I'm praying

Is HW 417 Hunter West 417?
Hey I'm in Hunter doing Pre-reqs for Hunter's Nursing(Hunter's pre-reqs are Psy100&150, A&PI and II(Bio120/122), Chem 100/102, Chem 120/122, Stat 113, Bio230)The thing is first u have to be a Hunter student, then comes Febuary of every year u can get the admission form from the Admission Office and apply.Hunter accepts 80 people each Fall, ONLY 80 and ONLY FALL!!!It's highly competetive. And while u submit your application u can register to take Pre-RN Entrance EXAM(given in the beginning of March)The school will consider BOTH your GPA and your Exam scoreNote: the GPA will be from every school u've ever attended and CR will be turn to C and NC will be turn to F, and recalculated...Your GPA has to be higher than 2.8 and I think average GPA of those who apply last year was 3.4!Anyhow, u should go see Pre-Health advisor at HW 417 Mon from 1-3The advisor is a great help and she can answer every questions u have better than I :) But I'm applying this year and I am waiting for the answer, so wish me luck!

GOOD LUCK! everyone
I spoke to the pre-health advisor at Hunter. She was very nice but said that if I do not take Chem 100/101 over the summer I would not be able to apply to the program until Spring 2007.
I want to take it at the community college near me but I am unsure which course that the CC is equiv. to Chem 100/101.
Does anybody who goes to Hunter know where I can get this info? They only have info for CUNY schools available.
I would hate to spend the money and then have them say that course is not equiv.

Hi. Dont fret my dear. All you have to do is go to http://www.tipps.cuny.edu. Once you find out what school your gonna go to I must say you need to get your appropriate papers signed fast. Summer classes fill up fast..especially science classes. Thanks and good luck
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, the CC that I will be attending this summer is not in the CUNY system. I am going to Nassau Community College on LI.
I think that it is the same so I guess I will wing it and take the course and cross my fingers that I didn't waste the money for the class.
