Hi!

Does anybody go to Hunter for Nursing?

I got accepted into the school as a different major but I am really thinking about trying to get into the program for next year.

Thanks

Tracy

My recommendation for the Math portion of the test, is continuously practice for speed. The problems are not hard. But I was rusty going in, and I ran out of time.

I applied last year and didn't get in and then applied again for the fall 2006 semester and got put onto the waiting list which I didn't like but figured it was better than nothing. But then I called the department today and the lady informed me that none of the students that were accepted elected to attend another school which means those of us on the list have no chance...

Did you apply to other school? Try other school if you have trouble in Hunter.. my dad's friend's daughter didnt get accept to Hunter Nursing and she transferred out to some SUNY school for nursing and she's a registered nurse now and earn like 70K each year..

how did you do in the NLN exam? was it hard?

I didn't apply to other schools in time but now I'm thinking of Stonybrook. I got a 130 on my NLN which put in in the 91st percentile. The only thing hard about the exam was the timing since there are about 20 developmental/experimental questions they throw in in each section so you're sitting there trying to answer all of them since you have no idea which one counts or not.

one of my friends is in Stony now and she told me that it's very competitive to get into their nursing program, she told me that for each year they only accept about 20 ppl out of all applicants... yea, did you do any practice exams for the NLN? i gotta take it next year March.. so nervous about it.

I dont like hunter's nursing program honestly.. it's so competitive and students waste two years and still dont know if they are able to make into the program.. some other schools, if you want to go for nursing and you are already automatically in the nursing program and the only thing you have to worry about is maintaining your grade, cant get any grade that's lower than a B or C. things work so much simplier..

Update: I got a call from the nursing department and they said a seat has become available so I am very excited! Now I have to take care of my BCLS and physical exam. Thank you Lord!

The NLN was pretty tough although the practice book helped a lot! Just practice the questions and time yourself once you're ready. What I did was go through all the practice sections without timing myself and then do the comprehensive exams and that allowed me to pace myself for the real thing. A lot of physics were on the exam like ohms and circuits which isn't covered in the review so study that. The reading is time consuming and they purposefully make the passages boring so stay focused, the math is basically the same as what is in the review, simple too. Good luck and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Congratulation to you!!! how exciting is this... good luck =)

i am just curious, did you take BIO 100 and 102?? Theres this part in the exam - General Bio, did Bio 120 cover the material? I am worried that i will not be able to answer the questions from General bio since i dont rem anything from HS bio
