Humber College Second Entry (2015)

Published

Figured I would start this thread so we can get some discussions going. I'm starting the Humber Second Entry program this September (2015). Pretty excited, also a bit worried about this 74% cut-off.

Who else is going to join me in the craziness of this program??

Thanks for the info! I'm wondering if you had or will have any experience with mental health nursing? I noticed that there's an entire course on it for the four-year program, but it's omitted from the second-entry stream, at least according to the class list I received at the open house.

Hey question what are the classes each semester?

Our chronicity class this semester had a large focus on mental health (our prof is a mental health nurse so she emphasized it A LOT). We also have a mental health placement this summer, and I think our Helping Relationships class focuses on some mental health as well.

Question for you. Do many people work during the program? I'm assuming it's a super busy program.

I've been busting my butt over the past year trying to save cash. I will be able to fund myself for about half the program so far. I'm hoping to get OSAP or funding for the rest.

Yep, lots of people work during the program (myself included). If you're good at time management and have a job that is relatively flexible it is not too difficult to manage (at least thus far).

Hey have you met any transfer students that came from another nursing program?

Can you guys let me know your GPA for last 10 credits. I`ve been on the wait list since beginning of March. I was told in mid April that my chances still looked good as I have a 3.3 for my last 10 credits.

Hey annapk,

I had around a 3.3 too in my last 10 credits. I also have a B.Ed that Humber considered as well which bumped up my GPA as well.

A 3.3 GPA should be enough to help you get in.

Best of luck!

I had a 3.7, but I declined my offer so there's one more spot off the waitlist. :) I hope you get in!

I had a 3.4 GPA. I had until May 1 to decide, so maybe if a lot of people were given that date and decided to wait until the last minute to decline, or just let it expire, now there will be spots available for people on the waitlist.

Good luck!

I find a lot of people hang onto their choices and don't decline. Just in case their circumstances change, so you never know! You may get in later.
