  1. Hello everyone! I am currently applying for graduate school in nursing. I completed my application process for the University of Toronto, but I am also applying for York University's MScN program. Their Statement of Interest is such a lengthy process and I am contemplating with even continuing the application process. I have my references currently completing their letter of recommendations so I don't want to not finish with the application process. Is there currently anyone in the York U MScN program currently? If so how did you find writing your personal statement? Regards, CatnessK
  2. Hello, I just graduated from nursing school at Ryerson and I am currently working in community health/home care. I am really enjoying my time so far as I was hired through HFO and I am having 3 months of orientation with my final month of orientation working alongside the community mental health nurse. Community mental health is my passion and I was fortunate enough to have had my consolidation placement in community mental health. I am very excited to start working autonomously and seeing where life takes me as a new graduate nurse. Feel free to PM me with questions! Best of luck!!
  3. Hey sorry late reply. She was hired in 7BCD. I am not even bothered by this I was hired as an extern with Trillium Health and I am completely enjoying my time here.
  4. Hey have you been accepted into this program? How do you like it? We're you able to work full time while doing a masters full time?
  5. Does Sick Kids hire Black nurses? I applied to a clinical externship position, I am a nursing student, and there was this White nursing student that applied to the same position. We compared resumes and I have to say I had a lot of work and volunteer experience in comparison to hers. She ended up getting a call to come in for an interview and got the job. I didn't even get a call for an interview at all. I feel like the person's name on a resume is a make it or break it for getting hired. My name obviously being hard to pronounce unless I say it. What are your thoughts? I am not trying to start any race war issues, but I can't possibly be the only person that feels this way sometimes.
  6. He asked us if it was okay but we didnt answer and it was in the elevator. The doctor continued to talk to the patient about his care with other staff members and visitors entering the elevator. Sorry I left out that part. Would this constitute for a breach?
  7. Hello everyone! I am not sure if I posted this in the right place. I just wanted to talk about a situation that happened when I had clinical. There was a doctor that entered the elevator and saw one of his patients. He went on to ask if he was okay discussing his care in the ELEVATOR and that the nursing students shouldn't mind. I just wanted to know if this was in anyway a violation in HIPAA or confidentiality (because he did great the patient by his name). Also would privacy be an issue as well? Thank in advance for the replies!
  8. Hey have you met any transfer students that came from another nursing program?
  9. Hey question what are the classes each semester?
  10. Thank you for the reply. I wanted to know how are you graded for the prep courses. Is it just multiple choice exams, is there group presentations, attendance marks, etc.
  11. I also wanted to know if there is an overview of the courses broken down for each semester. Also what is the average you must maintain for each nursing course. i know that you need a 74% in each of the prep courses, but what about the nursing courses. Also is there anyone that can tell me the level of difficulty for each of the prep courses. Thanks!
  12. I applied today, super late and my GPA is around a 2.5 but my high school average is a 90%. I am transferring from another nursing school and hopefully I am accepted into this 2nd entry program. I see there aren't a lot of active members in this forum for Humber hopefully that changes up soon!

  14. I feel like the environment at my school really caused for my mishap. Everyone had there own group and I honestly came to school just to go home and never wanting to stay on campus. I just never felt that university life this year and it has become very depressing for me. Commuting is causing me to become super fatigued and my family members have been calling me selfish and distant because of this year. I am the eldest of 4 younger siblings who are so close in age and I am expected to pick them up from school, drop them off to work and buy them whatever they want. it is really hard to maintain my car and gas, plus having to pay for subway and food, etc. I am unemployed as well and I really want to be able to work and go to school. With that being said I applied to Humber's second entry program this morning and I'm having no regrets so far, but I probably won't be accepted anyways because my GPA was super low. If I do get accepted this will allow me to be closer to home and maybe work during the school years. Honestly I wish I did more research on nursing schools and how their policies work because one courses really dictated my life and I can't repeat it in the summer or anything. My parents keep telling me what's done is done you can't bring back the past but you can work harder to get to your future goals. Mine is becoming a registered nurse one way or another and to complete this goal I need to make tough decisions and one of them being is switching schools. I haven't told my parents about applying yet but I do plan to do so if I do get accepted! :) Thank you all for the replies and kind words and for those of you out there in my position I would say wipe the tear, stand tall and embark on your mission of becoming a REGISTERED NURSE!
  15. I ended up failing nursing theory which is so shocking to me but I am now looking at transferring schools because I am nervous to make the same mistake at my previous school
