I'm starting this course next week. Anyone else taking it or anything that sounds a bit like it? I really am not sure at all what to expect but I know I'm about to find out in a big, fat hurry!!
hehe, hi! Well, since they are telecourse rather than web based I take the tests on campus and I check the telecourse material out of the library, so that might not work for ya, but I go to Kilgore college, www.kilgore.edu It's a nice (and cheap! lol!) lil college here in East Texas. But if you're looking for a web based option I think DCCCD has both these courses for even less, now I can't say what difficulty they would be but there are many DCCCD students and they might. http://www.dcccd.edu/As for cats, most definitely!! I have 4 kitties and we spent alot of time keeping them happy. lol A persian, a siamese, and two ole' tomcats of dubious origins. :)
Thanks for the info, I think at our college I can do something similar and will check into it!
I have two female cats, one longhair part persian which came to us as a stray, a horsebarn callico from Kentucky from a loving family got her as a kitten, and a rescue orange tiger got him as a kitten ( he desparately needed food and was almost dead from starvation)
I also have two dogs, one terrier-mix and a beagle
Have a great weekend and once again, thank you:)
Just bumping this up to the top again... how's everyone doing? We've got test #2 tomorrow night. Need to put in some serious studying tonight and tomorrow... had an A&P test Saturday so was focusing on that, now need to refresh my memory on this stuff.
We got our research paper assignment last week. Can pretty much write about whatever we want, has to be 5 pages or less and have at least three different sources. You should have heard the cries of protest from people that they couldn't rely solely on the internet. Sheesh, it's not that difficult, people! I think I'm going to do mine on the effects of media on child development. Will probably have to narrow it down a bit more than that, but I'd already read a book about the topic a few months ago and was able to get it out of the library again, so I've got one good source down.
Hope things are going well for the rest of you!
Good here now. Been off for a while, first the babysitter got the flu, then the kids got it, then I got it, then just general office craziness happened, but now I am back. :) I just got the results back from my first HG&D paper today - got a 98% - yeay! I did a daycare facility observation, it was fun.
Hiya!! GL on your second test!!! I have been concentrating on A&P a bit too much too. I have to get at my research paper a.s.a.p.! I just got my A&P mark back and did get an A but not the A+ I wanted :uhoh21: . LOL dh just thinks that's stupid. But anyhooooooo .... Sounds like your paper is going to be good too! Let me know how you're making out!Just bumping this up to the top again... how's everyone doing? We've got test #2 tomorrow night. I'm taking HG & D and I feel the class is a waste of my time. I was really excited about this course at first. This is the second part of Child Development and I loved the first course. My teacher ended up getting really sick, so another teacher had to take over the course. For the last 3 classes we have done absolutely NOTHING. One class we went over the first teacher's syllabus and she laughed at a lot of what the other teacher put in there. I thought that was really unprofessional. And then another class she told us our midterm grades and then let us go home early (because of the White Sox game). And my classes are only once a week and are supposed to last for 3 hours. When we miss one class it is like we are missing two. I am really annoyed by this class. I want to drop it, but I need the class before applying to Nursing school. We just passed midterm time and we haven't got to early adulthood yet. We have only covered Adolescence so far. Sorry for venting, but this class is really getting on my nerves :angryfire
Ugh, that sound frustrating. I hear you with your thoughts about the course because I am feeling the same way. Unfortunately, the teacher is just not good. Not that this will necessarily help you but these are the type of teachers we need to talk to the faculty advisers about and/or turn in a bad evaluation for them. I don't really want to do that and am just torn in general. Hang in there!! You will be through it before you know it and we can move on to other stupid courses haha. We have just finished the school age child so we are behind you if that makes you feel any better. :chuckleI'm taking HG & D and I feel the class is a waste of my time. Ours is not the teacher, but the class and book itself don't seem to be set up all that wonderful. The teacher is actually pretty decent, so at least that's a plus. I wish it wasn't so mundane though, I expected something different. It seems like all it is is learning technical verbage and memorizing theories. Oh well - we can survive - halfway there!!! Keep your chins up everybody!
The class isn't quite what I had been hoping for either. And if it makes any of you feel better, we only just got through the pre-school years! We'll have to zoom through the rest of the lifespan if we want to get to the end of the book!
I enjoy the class, the book is really interesting, though I don't feel like lectures really add that much. And there are a few people that feel the need to comment on EVERYTHING! One woman in particular, she has a story to tell about nearly any topic we discuss, even when the professor has made it clear that we need to move through the material quickly. That I find frustrating. Oh well, halfway through.
