I'm starting human anatomy next week, and would love to get a sticky started to keep each other sane. I'm a bit nervous about starting this class, as I really need an A, but work full-time and will also be taking abnormal psych. It's going to be a lot of work!
Let's help each other out through this forum! :welcome:
So, when are you starting, where are you taking it, and how are you feeling?
I'm not finding the subject matter too difficult, thank heavens. What I am struggling with is the workload. We have so much work that we have to do and turn in, between the lab exercises and she has us do the chapter review question at the end of all the chapters to turn them in. I am finding that I have *just* enough time to get it all done and turned in, but not enough time to review any of it before the exams. I work full time and am a mom, so this is quite a juggling act.
It feels like I'm spending all of my free time on this class, and my test grades are not reflecting the work I'm putting in. I have a B in the class so far, so I guess I'm not doing too bad, but I was really hoping to maintain my 4.0 GPA, which I don't think is going to happen.
Just felt like venting for a moment, but if anyone has any suggestions for time management, or how to make the most out of limited study time, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks. Now I'm off to try to get some more work done, muscles lecture and practical exams on Wednesday. *dies*
Oh man...I definitely am getting frustrated in A&P. Like the poster above, I feel like I am not getting the grades I deserve for the amount of work I'm putting in. I studied so much for my practical and put in a ton of effort and time well before the practical even happened, and I just found out that I got a 74. That's not TOO terrible considering that our teacher makes the class average for everything a 77, but still...I still feel like I should have done so much better. I was hoping for at least an 80.
Just needed to vent...thanks for letting me do that. Back to work!
Ok so far so good! I just passed my CNA (certified nursing assistant) state test! Definitely was a piece of cake. I dont know if thats going to help me get into the nursing program. But heck, I figure some kind of experience will help!Anyways, Ive been in A&P I and am doing pretty good so far. I swear, in the beginning I was going to drop this class because i panicked with the first 2 grades i got on the first 2 quizes. We had to study Ch's 1 and 2 for the first week of class! I had no idea what my professor was looking for or what her tests were like. Some teachers concentrate more of the anatomy part and some teachers concentrate on more of the physiology. After failing the first 2 quizes I waited till everyone left the classroom and asked, "what do i have to do in order to pass your tests?" She told me she concentrates on more of the physiology that the anatomy! That one question changed everything! After that I started getting better grades! This site really did help me through it! It gave me a greater perspective on what im up against. Like for example, someone in here had mentioned that the bone examination consisted of 75 questions and they had to identify parts of the bone within 90 seconds! Last week i had a test on bones! Our test was no different! we had 50 blank lines and were told to identify the labled. They were numbered in 3 different places of each bone. and we had to do it within 2 minutes. I think i aced it! i spent 7 hrs in the open lab room studying every bone!A&P I is definitely not easy! From what i hear, after A&P I and II...it gets easier? The way i look at it, the school system gives everyone these hard courses to weed out the people who cant hack it! Because if the diploma's/cert's were given out just like that? we'd be screwed! Thanks to all who take out the time in helping out one another! your notes, encouragement and advice really do help tremendously! lets keep kicking &!*, shall we?
Keep up the good work! Keep in mind that A&P is not just to see who make it or not but to learn the normal body fuctions. You need to have this in backed. Once you go into Pathophysiology if your school requires it and then you will understand why it is soooooooooooo important to know the normal functions of the Human body. Patho... goes into the disease part of it and if you don't know what is normal you won't be a good practitioner. Keep that in mind
Good luck
In the beginning of the semester, I had a couple of rough spots, meaning I failed one test and barely passed another with a C, then someone suggested using flashcards and to utilize a great website, bodysmart.com. With those couple of adjustments to my study habits, I was able to bring my average up; I made a 97% on this last test covering the Muscular System. Thank you so much for the helpful information!
I got 100% on my third practical. This makes me so happy. We had 70 blank lines to identify muscles on models and cats, and we had 90 sec to identify three muscles. Also, we had histology and about 10 questions on muscle functions. On more exam and one more practical to go and I am done. I love this class.
Hi Faith,
thanks for your information. I went to bodysmart.com, but the site is no longer in service. I'll check around. If I come up with the right site, I will post a correction.
Thanks,

I just took my muscles test for A&P lab and it was ridiculously hard; i just blanked out and i couldn't remember the insertions of some of the muscle and what's funny, those happened to make the bulk of the test. Anyways,we get to drop the lowest grade out of the four tests we take for the semester and so i better keep my eyes intently on the light at the end of the tunnel and maybe i'll do well on the next test which will be on the nervous system. Does anyone know of any resources or website that might be helpful to me?
