Hello all, Im sorry Im a year late in posting. I just graduated nursing so forgive me with the late response. When I first started my career in healthcare I worked as a CNA at RIMM Rehabilitation in morristown, nj. I was getting paid $19.50/hr with no benifits. I went to Ace Healthcare Training Institute in Dover, NJ (Morris County) I think they have another school in Union County as well. To be honest, the teacher definitely inspired me to become the nurse I am today. The school definitely did everything by the book. They actually teach you more than what you should know which is a good thing IMO. It really helped me prepare for once i got into Nursing 1. They taught me all the basics i.e Bedmaking, vital signs, range of motions.. Also, please note. If you attend a fully accredited school you can get your money reimbursed to you upon signing a contract with a hospital or nursing home. What I loved about the school was that it was family oriented, fast and really prepared me to take the state board examination. Join the facebook fan page to support this school. Highly recommended to friends and family! Now, Ive heard of schools like "Karing with Kindness" that is in Beachwood, NJ. Please DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL. I have had friends that told me they don't supply the book and the teacher isn't even an RN. To make matters worse, the professor is hardly even there! Anyways-- Good Luck to all! -J

No one should have to go to a training program where they have to learn on their own. I don't understand how they can be in business for this long if that's how their certifying their aides. Is that even legal?

:down:My friend had went there for training and said it was horrible. They just give you a book and tell you to read it. NO TEACHING! I personally went to ace healthcare training institute. If you want to get state certified and want to work anywhere you want in nj with no strings attatched, id go to ace training institute. i graduated last year and was very happy with the school i had chosen. it was easy and fast. definitely prepared me for nursing 1. i felt like i was ahead of the class going through their program. heres the link: acehealthcaretraining.com they are approved by the senior service and health dept. hope this helps :) and good luck! joseph brita, NJ :nuke:

Ok so far so good! I just passed my CNA (certified nursing assistant) state test! Definitely was a piece of cake. I dont know if thats going to help me get into the nursing program. But heck, I figure some kind of experience will help!Anyways, Ive been in A&P I and am doing pretty good so far. I swear, in the beginning I was going to drop this class because i panicked with the first 2 grades i got on the first 2 quizes. We had to study Ch's 1 and 2 for the first week of class! I had no idea what my professor was looking for or what her tests were like. Some teachers concentrate more of the anatomy part and some teachers concentrate on more of the physiology. After failing the first 2 quizes I waited till everyone left the classroom and asked, "what do i have to do in order to pass your tests?" She told me she concentrates on more of the physiology that the anatomy! That one question changed everything! After that I started getting better grades! This site really did help me through it! It gave me a greater perspective on what im up against. Like for example, someone in here had mentioned that the bone examination consisted of 75 questions and they had to identify parts of the bone within 90 seconds! Last week i had a test on bones! Our test was no different! we had 50 blank lines and were told to identify the labled. They were numbered in 3 different places of each bone. and we had to do it within 2 minutes. I think i aced it! i spent 7 hrs in the open lab room studying every bone!A&P I is definitely not easy! From what i hear, after A&P I and II...it gets easier? The way i look at it, the school system gives everyone these hard courses to weed out the people who cant hack it! Because if the diploma's/cert's were given out just like that? we'd be screwed! Yeah there's another school by the Dover Business College. There are classes held in the Dover Medical Building. I used to live in Parsippany which is literally 5 min away from Dover. Its a really nice town. Anyways, its called (AHTI) Ace Healthcare Training Institute. I took their CNA program 3 yrs ago and absolutely loved it! The teachers were excellent! Very inspiring. My friend had told me that she is on the waiting list for the LPN program. Personally, I attended CCM (county college of morris) but if i were to do it all over again.. i would of joined them!
