HRSA 2021-2022

Updated:   Published

I haven't seen anyone start a thread about applying for this year's HRSA scholarships. I am waiting to see if I am accepted into a school in IL (fingers crossed!) and then I am going to start my application process for HRSA. The program I am applying to is a 16 months ABSN that starts in august! what about you all?

Have you been accepted some where yet? Still in the application process? Already started the Scholarship application?

Yes, many students in my program  received denial letters last Spring, none had any defaulted loans or debt. In fact, no one in my program was awarded. There were students with 0 EFC and all had high GPAs (3.8+). I don’t know why she would tell you that denials are rare when they get thousands of applicants but can only award around 250ish.

Which program?

Does anyone have an idea of how much the ORC payment is?

I think I read somewhere that your school estimates that number and gives it to Nurse Corps.

I just now received a finalist email. My credit was checked on 8/06.

Hey what does this mean to have your credit checked? Mine still says under review so I’m confused about all these terms

If  considered for an award, HRSA will pull your credit to check for any defaulted federal loans (having any will disqualify an applicant). So getting your credit checked by HRSA is a good sign that you are being considered for the scholarship. Even though my credit was pulled 8/06, my portal stayed as "under review" up until I received the finalist email yesterday 8/19.

I just got a finalist email on 8/19 and a COI finalist email on 8/20!! I think they did a credit check in the beginning of August. Although I'm not sure because I was applying for a student loan at the same time so I wasn't sure if it was HRSA or the student loan company.

Does anyone know if the finalist email means you're for sure getting a scholarship? I read in a previous thread here that it does but I don't want to get my hopes up. Luckily I have a backup plan in place. I am lowkey nervous about submitting the enrollment verification paperwork since I got an email on Thurs/Fri and have until the following Thursday to have my school officials send it! I also start school on Wednesday so I's a busy time!!

I am enrolled in a 15-month ABSN program in Montana (May 2021 to August 2022) and work with Native American populations! I hope others receive letters too!

I think especially this year if you get a finalist email due to the extra funding it’s a pretty good indicator you’re going to get the scholarship! ? congratulations!!

Confirmation of interest email. I was sent two emails: one from generic "noreplyHRSA" email and one from a DPHHS HRSA representative (I got it from (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME)).

I created a facebook group for the finalists if you guys wish to join! I saw last year's cohort did this so I thought it might be helpful for this year ?

Question for finalists: Does anyone know if the Verification forms require the school seal? My nursing dept chair is working remotely and doesn't have the seal available. I saw in last year's that it wasn't a huge issue since COVID.
