Ladies and gents...still no emails, no letter? I am so nervous, but remain hopeful, this will totally affect the difficulty of the upcoming semester for me!!!!!

I checked last year's thread. HRSA requested more info on 8-26 and required a 48 hour turn around(so make sure you check your e-mail AT LEAST twice a day). The first recipient wasn't notified until 9-15.

As soon as you hear from them please let us know!

Suzi

Thanks for that bit of info!!!! good luck to all!

Good Afternoon,

I feel a little better because I've discovered that I'm not in this alone. My experience thus far has been this...

I've submitted a complete packet and sent it certified mail. My green card indicates that my packet was received on 6/2/08. Starting mid July, I called to check my status. I was then told that my packet was received late, :banghead: then I asked to speak to mgmt. She then confimred that my packet was received before the due date :yeah:. I followed up again early August because my status was INCOMPLETE . I had a cow!!! I called hrsa and they couldn't tell me anything. That's when I received an email wanting to confirm my in state/ out of state cost. I thought that was pointless, since my tution was documented under resident on the supplement forms. Since my confirmation reply, my status has been updated to "under review". I've been waiting since then. I'll keep everyone posted on what happens next. :)

Hey I've been following this group for a week now, and it is really nice to see everyone going through the same thing. Just thought I would share an interesting article I found. I believe it is an independant study done for DHS...

Recipients of NSP and NELRP awards are more likely to be from a minority group and are more likely to have received or be pursuing a 4-year bachelor's degree rather than a 2-year associate's degree when compared to the overall RN workforce. In both programs, an applicant's minority status is not used as a criterion in making awards. In 2004, 11 percent of the overall nursing workforce was minority while minorities made up 36 percent of NSP awardees and 21 percent of NELRP awardees. NSP and NELRP awardees are required to be employed in one of the types of facilities identified by HRSA as having a critical shortage of nurses. However, HRSA does not have a sound basis for determining the number of RNs needed for that facility to be considered as one experiencing a critical shortage of RNs. Consequently, we cannot identify which facilities fall into this category. Furthermore, awardees may not be serving in facilities actually experiencing a nursing shortage. HRSA is working to develop an approach for identifying facilities with critical shortages of RNs, and researchers contracted by HRSA have produced a report detailing an approach that uses available county-level data to determine facilities that could be identified as having critical shortages of RNs. This report is currently under review, so HRSA's efforts at developing an empirically-based approach for identifying facilities with critical shortages of RNs have not been completed

Kind of long, but interesting, plus I though we could all use some reading material!

Thanks, but I draw one single conclusion from this which is that Minority students are disproportionately in the lowest rungs of income, therefore it is no suprise that there are many minority recipients.

I think the minority status does correlate to the income requirements. The minority status on the application is not linked to your application for eligibility. I did not answer those questions as it is not relevant.

Has anyone heard anything else? Still in the dark here.

Jennifer

No, have not heard anything. Will let the community know as soon as word is sent.

I emailed the lady who emailed me about the private/vs public school info and she said they were still processing the apps.

I definatly agree about the income association with minority status. This was however the first article I had found that gave any info on stats as far as scholarship reciepients. Hopefully only a few more weeks of waiting!!

Has anyone else received any emails from HRSA in regard to instate and out of state tuition?
