I can't seem to find a thread on the latest round of Nurse Corps Applications, So I'll start. My initial point is more of me venting, but guess I'll ask - Should I even continue with my application? The new cycle and FAFSA wants us to use 2017 tax info, but in 2017, I was preparing for school and was employed full-time. Now that I'm collecting pennies and in dire need of assistance, it looks like my EFC is almost 8000. I can rarely work in reality. I'm really disheartened and confused as to why the FAFSA is set up like that.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

So if you log in normally under the ‘An Applicant’ section, you will be brought to the page where you can review, check status, or withdraw. On the top, there is a ‘Roles’ drop down menu bar. It says ‘NHSC Applicant,’ ‘Nurse Corps Applicant,’ and ‘NHSC LRP Applicant.’ I applied to both the NHSC and Nurse Corps Scholarships. I haven’t been in the field so I wouldn't even qualify for LRP so it’s probably just there regardless.
Now, if you happened to have logged in under ‘A Participant’ section, accidentally or not, it will automatically add ‘Participant’ to your ‘Roles’ tab. I tried it out and it added it without me doing anything.
Hope I didn’t disappoint anyone, but just wanted to alleviate anxiety to those who don’t see that tab. Not to be a downer, but there are only 155 awards available for NPs, dental, medical, PA, and clinical psychology for NHSC. I do hope the best for everyone, just hate seeing people get their hopes up ?
Do you know how many ADNs and BSNs they are taking?

See I saw this same information too! But never logged into participant section so that's what I found weird! Just all of a sudden one day popped up. So we will see. ? Thank you for putting this out there though! Good for people to know. And I called today and apparently for NHSC they started sending out a few emails to some finalists. So keep a lookout!

I am confused though because my application status is “under review” but on the portal page it says that applications with missing materials or discrepancies won’t qualify for review. Do you think I have any hope?
No you won't get disqualified for missing App ID. You should be fine
Hi everyone,
I’m Danielle and freaking out because fall is supposed to be my last semester of school. I owe $15k for summer and have been fortunate enough to pay out of pocket up until this semester. No I couldn’t really afford it but I’m trying to get out. I literally don’t have the money. Realistically they’re not going to let me register for my last semester carrying this balance. Does anyone know if we can receive the scholarship if not enrolled? I plan to go speak with my financial aid office and see what options may be. I’m trying not to be set up for disappointment if I don’t get to graduate next semester. Thanks for the info. I’m crazily waiting with you.

I'm sorry to say that you would not be eligible for this scholarship. You have to apply for this one before the school year. Check into the loan repayment programs though!
Good for you that you've been able to pay out of pocket. That's not easy to do while in nursing school so congrats to that.
What about taking out a loan? Then you can graduate as you had planned, may end up being cheaper in the end as you can start making more money sooner. Just a thought, I don't know your personal situation though. Of course it is not ideal, but fortunately it'll only be $15k instead of over $150k like many of us.

As far as I know they do not give preference to BSN over ADN. I think most of all it's needs based, then they are looking at references and essays.
