  1. Haha phew. So to my knowledge, you must be enrolled to receive it or if it’s your first year admitted with intention to enroll and start classes before Sept 30th. And I think you need to have at least a year left (2 semesters or something like that), but I’m not positive on this part.
  2. ^^^ Just realized that this probably came off as insincere since it's in writing. I meant it to be helpful!
  3. Good for you that you've been able to pay out of pocket. That's not easy to do while in nursing school so congrats to that. What about taking out a loan? Then you can graduate as you had planned, may end up being cheaper in the end as you can start making more money sooner. Just a thought, I don't know your personal situation though. Of course it is not ideal, but fortunately it'll only be $15k instead of over $150k like many of us.
  4. I don’t mean to burst anyone’s bubble or cause more anxiety, but I looked into the ‘Roles’ tab situation. So if you log in normally under the ‘An Applicant’ section, you will be brought to the page where you can review, check status, or withdraw. On the top, there is a ‘Roles’ drop down menu bar. It says ‘NHSC Applicant,’ ‘Nurse Corps Applicant,’ and ‘NHSC LRP Applicant.’ I applied to both the NHSC and Nurse Corps Scholarships. I haven’t been in the field so I wouldn't even qualify for LRP so it’s probably just there regardless. Now, if you happened to have logged in under ‘A Participant’ section, accidentally or not, it will automatically add ‘Participant’ to your ‘Roles’ tab. I tried it out and it added it without me doing anything. Hope I didn’t disappoint anyone, but just wanted to alleviate anxiety to those who don’t see that tab. Not to be a downer, but there are only 155 awards available for NPs, dental, medical, PA, and clinical psychology for NHSC. I do hope the best for everyone, just hate seeing people get their hopes up ?
  5. I got mine checked on Monday as well! I didn't apply for anything new either. It was on Credit Karma from Credco and didn't specify the source of the check, it indicated "Miscellaneous Reptg. Agencies." I applied for both scholarships. If this is anything, I feel it's likely to be NHSC over Nurse Corps due to the fact that I doubt Nurse Corps will consider me because my "EFC" is over what they typically consider for that particular scholarship. Does anyone know if they only check those who might, emphasis on might lol, be considered? Or is it a large group of people? Fingers crossed for everyone!
  6. @Twochance, I am in essentially the same situation as you. I worked more full time in 2017 (to pay for my prerequisite courses, grrr) and FAFSA gave me a $10,500 EFC. I will be making $0 as on June 15th to return to school. I didn't qualify for need-based aid through the schools I applied to and do not qualify for the Nurse Corps scholarship all because of the EFC, that I will not have, ?. I am very disheartened and beyond frustrated as well. I am not glad that we are in this situation, but I am glad to know there are others out there who see how unfair it is as well. I am still applying to both HRSA scholarships because I have nothing to lose. Maybe give it a shot? Regardless, hang in there, I'm sure something will work out for you! ?
  7. Thank you so much! This is very helpful. I am an older student who also went through another graduate program so I can definitely relate with your thoughts. Good point about consideration of the independent practice state. I am from New England so I plan to return after graduation so that is an important point. Thanks again. Best of luck to you as well!
  8. Thank you! Best of luck to you as well!
  9. Me again! Sorry! Is anyone else trying to decide between Yale and Vanderbilt for PMHNP? Both are such great programs, I don’t know what to do! Any thoughts on pros and cons would be greatly appreciated!
