I can't seem to find a thread on the latest round of Nurse Corps Applications, So I'll start. My initial point is more of me venting, but guess I'll ask - Should I even continue with my application? The new cycle and FAFSA wants us to use 2017 tax info, but in 2017, I was preparing for school and was employed full-time. Now that I'm collecting pennies and in dire need of assistance, it looks like my EFC is almost 8000. I can rarely work in reality. I'm really disheartened and confused as to why the FAFSA is set up like that.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Hi! You don’t need to fill out section 8. It’s for your/our “employer,” which would be HRSA. Cheers!

For all who have received the finalist emails, what scholarship is this for? It seems really early to be getting notifications for Nurse Corps scholarship.

I was thinking the same. I'm a past recipient of the Nurse Corps scholarship and we received notifications mid august/sept the year I received it. So, this is actually nice for the new recipients. Congrats all!

Hopefully this is just the Nurse Corps and not the NHSC. I haven't heard of those applicants being notified yet.

For everyone who received an email, CONGRATULATIONS! My question is what was everyone's community service for? I'm assuming you all had to have some really good past experiences work with underserved populations. Just briefly describe yours so other in future know what HRSA is looking for in regards to past experience. Thank you.

The email was for HRSA Nurse Corps Scholarship, however keep in mind that it is just the finalist announcement, not the recipient announcement! Here’s what the email reads:

“Your application has been identified as a finalist under consideration for a 2019 Nurse Corps Scholarship Program award (Nurse Corps SP). This is not a guarantee of an award. At this time, you must confirm or deny your intent to accept the Nurse Corps Scholarship by logging in to the Nurse Corps SP Application Portal and submitting your response by 08/03/2019 or your offer will be rescinded.”

Finalists must submit their bank account info, fill out a W-4, and have their school fill out a (or should I say “another”) enrollment verification form; all by the 3rd. So keep that mind, to all finalists, you DO need to get your school to fill something out, which could take a few days depending on the work volume of the admissions office!!

Does all of your applications status’ still say “under review”? Especially the people who were chosen as finalist?
