2019-2020 HRSA Nursing Corps Scholarship

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

I can't seem to find a thread on the latest round of Nurse Corps Applications, So I'll start. My initial point is more of me venting, but guess I'll ask - Should I even continue with my application? The new cycle and FAFSA wants us to use 2017 tax info, but in 2017, I was preparing for school and was employed full-time. Now that I'm collecting pennies and in dire need of assistance, it looks like my EFC is almost 8000. I can rarely work in reality. I'm really disheartened and confused as to why the FAFSA is set up like that.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thank you! Congratulations ???? everyone that are finalists!! Mine still says “under review”. Im still hopeful they will do another round but if not I’m okay not receiving it and not having the two-year commitment, I’m in acceptance of whatever happens.

Congratulations to all of the finalists for the HRSA Nurse Corps Scholarship!!! From my experience, when you are chosen as a finalist, it just means the scholarship is yours ? (contingent on accepting, completing all the requirements they ask of you from this point on and meeting all their deadlines to submit documents).

Again, Congrats!!! This scholarship is a blessing.

@Tarzana25 ooooh me likey the sound of that! I read the forum from last year and apparently there was a glitch in the OS and everything was pretty confusing for a while... maybe they’re just trying to make up for that “*** show” (for lack of better words). May I ask what your experience with the scholarship is? Are you a past recipient?

For those of those still waiting how many rounds of awarding do they usually do? I’m still under reviews

Sorry for the typos,

For those of us still waiting, how many rounds of awarding do they usually do? I’m still under review.

Hey everyone! Finalist for Nurse Corps here as well. I’ve got a question: does accepting the award at this phase mean that we’re locked into the Nurse Corps scholarship and cannot accept the NHSC award if we find out later that we are chosen for that? My preference is the NHSC scholarship, and I’m afraid the accept the Nurse Corps one because I’m not sure if it will prevent me from being able to accept the NHSC one instead if I am chosen for that. Any help would be so appreciated!!!

What is the difference in the two scholarships? Asking because I don’t know. I would take the offer you have now and not chance it.

Looking back on pervious pages people were finding out they were finalist latest September 20th. So keep hope alive guys, this is probably round 1 of emails. Keep a look out for another maintenance shut down on the HRSA page this typically means they are working on applications.

@Tarzana25 hi! Would love to hear about your experience with the award as a past recipient!

I am a past recipient and my experience with the scholarship was good. I am about to complete my 2 year commitment this September. It's a bit challenging when you have to do your verification of enrollment the first time, but that's just because you don't know what the heck you're doing lol. After the first one it seems much easier. Once you're done with school they do hover over you a bit and pressure you to get licensed and find a job, but then again isn't that why we went to school in the first place ?.

I will be applying for the HRSA Nurse Corps next year in hopes that I can get my Doctorate done with no debt. The service commitment isn't bad because there's great paying jobs out there that work with the underserved population and HRSA assigns someone to guide you when you get to that point.

Hearing a lot of people got finalist letters and contras to you all that did! My application still says"under review". Still keeping my fingers crossed! Hoping I'm in the next "wave" as people are calling it. Best of luck to everyone!

I agree ☝️ let’s keep positive vibes for those of us who are still “under review”. It sounds like everyone that got accepted were BSN level. Is that correct y’all?
