HRSA Nurse Corps Scholarship 2020-2021

Published

I havent seen a thread yet on this year's nurse corps application cycle & my anxiety has made me start one. I'm finishing up my application and should be done with it by today. I know its extremely competitive so honestly I dont think I'll get it but its worth a try! Who else has applied/is applying?

Final review to participant.

Keep your hope up because last year I saw people were still getting signatures and received finalist email by the 26-27.

Thank you! I hope so. I’ve never moved from under review and no credit check or request for documents.

Yea honestly, they say anything can happen up until Sept 30

Last year people were getting finalist emails the last week in September and were awarded on the 26th of the month. It’s not over until it’s over!

Received my rejection. I went on the portal and it said not selected ??. I’ll apply again next year. Congratulations to all those who got it!

Don’t lose hope! I was rejected for 3 years, 4th time was the charm!

I was rejected, but I'm going to apply once I start my DNP. . .it would make much more sense then anyway since I'm graduating in May. Congrats to everyone who got it and strength to us that don't have the help. . .we'll all get through this if it's what we really want!

Does anyone know how important volunteer experience is? I've decided I want to attend an ABSN program. I'm finishing up my prereqs, but due to COVID I'm not sure how much volunteer hours I can get.

From what I understand, I think HRSA looks at applicants who have demonstrated that they will be serious about completing the 2-year service commitment and continue serving in communities with critical healthcare facilities. I also believe that they appreciate well-rounded applicants, but I can't say that for sure because I don't know the background of every candidate who received the scholarship award. Personally, I think what made me a competitive applicant was my healthcare experience in a community clinic providing primary care to under-resourced residents without health insurance. I have a lot of experience working in communities that are underserved and highlighted this in my application essays. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out! I wish you the best of luck!

Hi! I was wondering if anyone here was accepted for either primary or acute care adult geriatrics? I’m worried when I apply this year they will not accept due to being restricted to adults?
