HRSA 2014-2015 Nurse Corps Scholarship

Published

Hello everyone, This is my second time applying for this scholarship and hope to get it this time around. I got accepted into Pace nursing program fall of last year but because of lack of funds I had to postpone it for this fall. My overall GPA Is 3.4 and I have EFC of 0. I submitted my application today and now the waiting game begins:nailbiting:. Wish everyone good luck!!!!

They don't restrict your speciality. When I received the scholarship previously I had a hard time finding a job, and they extend the period of time you have to find a job as long as you communicate with them. It is a requirement of them that you give back 2 years regardless if you only need the aid for 1 year (this is what I had to do). It is really easy. There is some paperwork to fill out when you first receive your job, and then it is due every 6 months and that is it. Nothing else to it. You still are paid from your job you just have to communicate with whoever is going to be your POC when they need to fill out your verification.

Wondering if anyone with a 3.3 and below receive this scholarship before? Last year most of the student that received the scholarship had a efc of 0 and GPA 3.5 and above

Catri when I applied and received scholarship before I was around a 3.3 with a EFC of 0. This time around I have a 4.0 and efc of 0. Good luck to everyone. Hopefully they start to move along!

oh ok I see. But why are you reapplying for the scholarship again?

I finished my commitment and I am in FNP school and would like the scholarship.

Ohhh ok. So even after working as a nurse you can still get the scholarship again? I thought it will be harder because of the income that you earn as a nurse but I guess not

It would be. If I didn't have the dependents I have I wouldn't qualify.

so is the EFC of 0 really important?

Yes...it is how they determine the greater need. I know the first time I got the scholarship no one outside of the EFC of 0 was awarded.

oh darn :x i guess im not getting it then. initially my EFC was 0, but after I got married, and with my husbands income, it changed everything. We could still use the scholarship tho, but I guess I better start seriously looking at private loans. :'(

It doesn't completely knock you out. I read in last years post people who got it whose EFC wasn't 0. I just know that is one of the main things they look at.

Well my EFC is 0 but my gap is 3.4 and I'm worried about my gap being too low. Am I the only one that check my email over 20 times a day? This is so nerve rocking
