HRSA 2014-2015 Nurse Corps Scholarship

Published

Hello everyone, This is my second time applying for this scholarship and hope to get it this time around. I got accepted into Pace nursing program fall of last year but because of lack of funds I had to postpone it for this fall. My overall GPA Is 3.4 and I have EFC of 0. I submitted my application today and now the waiting game begins:nailbiting:. Wish everyone good luck!!!!

Well I received a rejection email so I am no longer waiting!

Yup, I got my email rejection letter this morning.

Same here. Out of 2,467 applicants 242 were rewarded.

Me too. So little rewarded out of so many applicants. Congratulations to those that received it but I have to admit I am pretty down. Only needed one year's worth of help. Bummer.

Does anyone know if they give scholarships for those over the EFC range of 5500? I saw someone before was asking about this and in the same situation as me, just recently married so I have to count his income, which is not beneficial when starting nursing school. My GPA is very good and I have several years volunteering in the medical field. The only hinderance I can see would be the EFC.

The past few years those with EFCs over 5500 have not been awarded scholarships because there were so many qualified applicants in Tier 1 (i.e. applicants with EFCs below 5500).

Who knows what will happen next year, though?

Taxes!

Any Nurse Corps participants out there with insight into the tax situation? Has anyone used an accountant and found a considerable difference in taxes owed?

Thanks!

Any luck? I'm also applying for the accelerated program and have a similar overall GPA. All my nursing prereqs are 4.0. I'm trying to find scholarships.

Your thread has been moved to the Nursing Schools and Colleges forum where the other school specific discussions are. We hope you will receive additional responses in this new location.

Those of you who were awarded the Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program:

How does the 3rd year work?

When do you apply for the third year?

Do you automatically get awarded, has any one been denied?

How often do you verify your payments have been applied to the loans, every 6 months?

Thanks in advance for you comments. Not a lot of people talk about the continuation.
