HRSA Nurse Corp Loan Repayment Program 2023

Updated:   Published

Hello fellow RN's/APRN's,

Just finished my application for the HRSA Nurse Corp Loan Repayment Program 2023 program! Nervous but excited to see what comes of it, I see that the competition is extreme but it looks like over the past few years they've been given more funding to award!

Question as well: Does disadvantaged background apply to RN/APRN's applying or only to nurse faculty? I included the form anyway, just in case it helped my case as I am the first in my family to attend college.

Here are my qualifiers:

FNP-C

Behavioral Health - Pediatrics

DTI <100% - Just at 0.95%  (This is the total qualifying education loan balance divided by base annual salary)

HPSA Score: 13

Best of luck everyone!

Nothing here.   Just clarifying. Did you apply for the NHSC LRP or the Nurse corp loan repayment program?  Hoping a second credit check is good news for you!!

I applied to both repayment options.

Do you think maybe you have two credit checks since you applied for both programs? Just a guess. I've never seen where anyone has had two, but I figured the organizations would be able to share your info but maybe not.

So at 9pm today, I received an email from HRSA. Logged in and it was the finalist email! This is for the Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program, which is the only program I applied for. I think my credit was checked on May 2nd. I accepted the award, obviously. So happy! Good luck out there!

Got my finalist e-mail today!

In case the e-mail goes to spam or junk check the website every day. They gave me 6 days to complete the final paperwork that needs to be done.

Anyone know what the normal timeline is between being notified/accepting and actually having funds start disbursing?

When I read through the paperwork it gave a date in September for disbursement. I think it was a date in mid September

I became a finalist late last week! I haven't found any information online about what this means.  I'll leave what I know here incase someone else is looking.

I called the customer service number this afternoon and they said this means I am qualified to receive loan forgiveness, though it is dependent on funding.  He said the funding decisions regularly takes up until the deadline (sept 30 this year).  You may still be denied, but I have no clue how often this occurs.  Continue to be patient, we are almost there!
