Hi all you fellow texans! I'm a future nursing student, and I live in the Dallas area.

Hi! I will begin nursing school in Dallas in Fall of 2004. I am from Waxahachie!!

Welcome!

Hi, everybody. I just graduated with my RN/MSN and am working as a postpartum nurse in Austin. I'm really excited about this new forum.

Hello everyone!! I'm in San Antonio. GO SPURS!!!! I'l be starting nursing school fall of 2004, finishing up prereqs now. Can't wait till next fall!

HI everyone! I live in Lubbock and work in correctional facilities. The work and the pay beats the hospitals and home health in my book!

Hi,

I'm a student in Austin, currently working on prereqs and hope to start nursing school Summer 04 or Fall 04. I will be transferring to a BSN program in either Houston, Dallas, Galveston, San Antonio or Lubbock...depending on where I get accepted :roll

Cheers!

Howdy!

I think I'm the only person on this board who is in San Angelo! I am a 1st year ADN student at Angelo State University.

I'm originally from San Antonio, but then I married the Army - I mean I married my husband who is in the Army - we were moved here. (It's nice to be so close to family!)

In some of the larger cities, like Houston, Dallas etc at some of the big hospitals, Like Herman, Ben Taub etc, the RN's can make more but as LVN's and even in some of the small cities nursing pay is pretty bad. I have done salary survey's and research and Texas, no matter what the job, is USUALLY (not always but USUALLY) in the lower 50% in the pay ranking. There are exceptions but that is the average That I have found in my research.

Hey fellow Texans! I attend in ADN program near Lubbock but am originally from north of Dallas. I'll be moving back after I graduate in December.

Specializes in LTC.

I think it's the part of Texas you are in that effects your pay the most. I'm near Wichita Falls and the main hospital here is United Regional and they are real low payers. Most of the nursing homes pay considerably more than the hospital and they don't pay that great.

Hi everyone, I'm snooping around in your forum because I am considering moving to Texas after I finish my BSN. While I was in the army I was to be stationed in San Antonio, but had to get my orders deleted to be closer to my husband in KY (yuck).

I was considering San Antonio or Houston....I am from NYC and prefer bigger cities than small ones. Can anyone tell me what its like? Thanks so much!!

Hi, I am fairly new to Texas and I live in McKinney, and all I can say is the pay I am making now is much better than where I came from!!!

But considering all the years of practice could be better...

Hello,

I am from south texas, Corpus Christi, to be exact, I'm 25 and work on a Tele unit...been an RN for 1 year...:D
