Hi, I'm a senior in high school and after graduation I was planning on getting my BSN and becoming an RN. I want to work in the hospital. I was just wondering if you're allowed to wear your hair down or if you're allowed to wear bangs? I have lots of layers, side swept bangs and my haircut frames my face. When I put it up (leaving my bangs and framing pieces down) it doesn't touch my shoulders or collarbone (which I heard wasn't allowed). Are you allowed to wear bangs in school and in the hospital? I honestly hate pulling all of my hair back and Im pretty insecure about putting my bangs back. So are you allowed to wear bangs/framing pieces as long as they dont get in your eyes or something? Or do they make you pull all of your hair back?thank you!

Yeah, enjoy your bangs. However, don't go without washing it, and don't dye it pink right before you meet your new nurse manager.

I have worked with a nurse who needed an intervention in order to wash her hair. Ugh. And I am guilty of the pink accident. That was one expensive mistake.

I wear bangs, but my hair is long, so I always wear it back. Comfort and the ability to do my job is the priority. As long as my hair is clean, I really don't care that much about fashion.

My bangs sweep across my forehead, but are held up by my bushy eyebrows.

oh.my.gawd....I'm laughing so hard at this thread! Thanks, OP, for a really nice laughter break in my day!

Personally, I'm in favor it growing one's hair straight down to one's chin, completely covering the face so as to not require makeup. Now, if I could just get the trend to take over..!!

If you go long enough and attach lead fishing weights to the ends of it, you won't even have to wear scrubs or clothing of any sort!

Hahahaha. By the end of one night shift, my hair was up in some kind of sideways-Pebbles flintstone hairdo. It was a hit=P

My hospital would allow me to wear bangs.

Nature, and genetics...do not.

I actually sort of did that.:uhoh21: Well, not exactly shaved but went from chin length to a short pixie. My helmet made a mess of my hair, especially in the summer when it was hot.

This thread is hilarious, but in all seriousness here, I've been an RN x 6 yrs and have worked in three different ERs amd they could care less what you do with you hair.

I say we should do one of THESE as a departmental morale thing....
