How do you stay warm at work?

Published

I am trying to figure out how to dress warm at work since my floor is always cold. I wear a long sleeve shirt under my scrubs and long compression socks already. I already tried jackets from urban scrubs, infinity and iflex by Cherokee but they are too thin and bearly provide any warmth. I just need to find a scrub jacket that is warm, athletic slim fit, and high quality so it lasts long. Any other suggestions for getting warm is welcome. I also ordered a vest from work and it won't be coming until a month so I need something warm in the meantime.

Depends on the job. My PPE feels like a sauna suit. I can't tell if it's a hot flash or not. If I feel cold I just throw on the liquid impervious gown and take a quick walk.

Perfomance outdoor base layers (think Columbia, Northface, REI, etc). Expensive, but worth investment if your weight is stable (they fit tight in order to work).

I wear a fleece and use an illegal space heater and I'm still cold. When I'm on phone triage I wear fingerless gloves. I've resorted to long underwear and two shirts but then I feel like this.

It behooves us to make friends with the facilities guys. The process at my facility is if they catch you using one they cut the cord at the base. Fortunately our facility guy likes us so he looks the other way. We find donuts go quite far in relations with their department.

I have relatives that are always cold and they have been happy with the brand cuddle duds,I think walmart carries them and online at amazon.not bulky at all.

I worked a home care assignment where the family turned down the heat at night.

I wore a thermawrap adhesive hot pack, long johns, 2 pairs of socks and a turtleneck under my scrubs.

My next case was overly generous with the heat and I wore scrubs and no long johns and fanned myself all night.

if you need more than a light wgt sweater/jacket, I would say you need a visit to your PCP.

Could be but we found out something interesting from the HVAC guys. In order to keep the team rooms at 72 degrees, which they feel is optimal, the vents blow out air at 55 degrees that mixes with the air warmed by equipment and people to make that 72 degrees. Unfortunately the architects designed the vents to be positioned right over our work stations so we are being constantly assaulted by almost refrigerator cold air. Even people who normally run hot are uncomfortable and there isn't anything they can do about it.

Easy! Just go into menopause and you'll never be cold again! However, now the hot flashes ensure I have my own personal heating system.

I have the same heating system. I'd rather be cold!
