How to Relocate NCLEX Results to Another State???

The NCLEX is a National Exam, so if you pass on one state you can move to any state in the USA. Just contact the BON in the state you plan on moving too, every state has their own little quirks they just mainly want money (background checks, fingerprints, etc.), but you need not worry if you pass NCLEX, you only have to pass it once. Allnurses provides links to all the BON's in the USA.

If you plan on working in IL right out of school: When you register for the NCLEX, you select which testing center you want to take the test in (Oklahoma City, for example) and which Board of Nursing the results are sent to (Illinois, in your case). Therefore, you would just follow the directions to get your License by Examination, per the Illinois Board of Nursing.

I went to school in Reno, Nevada, but I took the NCLEX in San Francisco, CA and had my results sent back to Nevada for my initial license.

If you don't plan on working in OK, don't get a license in OK. It'll only cost you more money in the long run and delay the entire process, in my opinion.

That might not be possible in all cases around the country. Best to check with the individual state.

I had a friend whom lived in FL, graduated in FL, wanted to work in FL, but took the boards in North Carolina and had to do endorsement.....get two licenses.....it was expensive for sure, but some BON's want that money.

I don't know what happened with your friend, but you can take the NCLEX from anywhere there is a Pearson-Vue testing center. You can take the NCLEX in France over summer break if you wanted to. The results are sent to the BON where you **applied.

Now, the only time that you can't apply to another state is if the state that you are currently living in is a compact state & you wish to be licensed in another compact state. You are supposed to declare your state of residence (where you pay taxes & registered to vote) which is probably where you are in school, and then apply in the new state for endorsement after you change your state of residence (when you file for taxes in a new state, register to vote, change driver's license).

Send the results to the state where you are applying for your initial license. Then endorse that license to the second state. Or, if you have no intention of working in the first state, apply to the state where you intend to work first, and send the results there. Then you won't be paying to maintain two licenses, one of which you will not be using.

The member needs to decide which state they want to apply for initial license if the state that they trained in then they need to endorse once they have passed NCLEX. If the state they plan on moving to and working then apply there for initial license and meet requirements. Yes the exam can be done at any pearsonvue centre that administers the exam (I believe not all do the NCLEX although that may have changed) the results will go to the BON that issued the ATT

I finished school in South Carolina and knew I'd be moving to Washington state. I chose to take my boards in SC because WA has a whole list of education requirements such as Biology and nutrition which SC didn't require me to take. It's easier to take them in the state you are endorsed in (Oklahoma City for you).

Then, look at IL's licensing website http://www.idfpr.com/dpr/WHO/nurs.asp I believe for you it is by endorsement not examination but read the packet through and follow the instructions. For any questions you can call or email them.

Thank you for the info A Flood87...I knew Illinois colleges had more prereq requirements than Ok, but I didn't know you had to meet the state you want to take the NCLEX in testing requirements, as far as, their prereqs go..I am so glad you gave me this info... :bow:
