How to pay NMC application fee for overseas nurses

World Immigration

Published

Good day! I just received the request for application pack from the NMC, In the booklet it is said that I need to pay an application fee of 140GBP, i read that I can pay through check, bank draft or credit card. JUST THAT. There was no specific instruction on how to actually send your payment. Any overseas nurses out there who has already paid the application fee? how did you do it? if you used bank draft/personal checks, what banks do the NMC honor? Would really appreciate the help.

for a while members from the eu do not need a work permit, the comment below is the statement on the uk borders website re eea and switzerland, they just need to meet nmc requirements and that is still the case. currently the uk is bringing in a cap system for skilled workers

a registration certificate is a document, issued to eea or swiss nationals, that confirms their right of residence under european law. you do not need to have a registration certificate to enter, live in or work in the uk.

this is what the uk borders is currently saying in regards to skilled workers

'we will rigorously defend this challenge and are confident of success. the government has been clear: we will introduce our permanent annual limit on economic migrants from outside the eu from april 2011.

'while we decide how the annual limit should operate, it is imperative that we have interim measures in place to avoid a rush of applications from migrants before the new rules take effect.

yup you are right... im here in UK now. I have my decision letter from NMC but then i cannot go to adapatation as i cannot find any employer. it is very hard here to get an employer and harder to get work permit as they prioritize EU rather than us. From september 2010 i think if im not mistaken nurses from EU doesnt need any exam to practice nursing here and they dont need work permit thats why employer in UK gets EU applicant rather than non-EU, easy processing and less expensive for the employer. NOw, NHS is not anymore offering adaptation for overseas nurses from non-EU. But there are some employers who still doing it but i dont know here they are hehe but i heard some news about it here. anyway just having you an idea. its hard here really hard. im not discouraging you but UK now is not the right place for overseas nurses, thats the truth. and as i heard on april 2011 cap immigration will be fully implemented this will limit each employer to provide sponsorship for work permit minimizing the entry of non-EU workers... anyway dont stop keep persuing your dreams whatever it is... Godbless

Now that's clear! I hope people wont think that I'm "bringing them down". I hope everything goes well with your career there. God bless

Hi

I have an update on our present situation regarding the CoS and immigration and job opportunities.

As you know the NHS has been in discussion with the Border Agency about the recruitment of nurses and healthcare professionals to the UK and after their meeting early this month we have some more information.

At the moment things are slowing for overseas recruitment as the changes in policy by the UK Government has made it difficult for our hospitals to obtain enough Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS), and so the recruitment of new nurses is slower than originally anticipated.

However there are some hospitals that have CoSs and are still recruiting nurses from overseas. Because of the smaller number of CoSs available the hospitals are first looking for nurses in this order

1. PIN nurses, fully registered with the NMC and so are ready to work (those who have completed an ONP)

2. nurses who have a decision letter and are on the shortages list (theatre and NICU nurses)

3. nurses who have a decision letter and are from other disciplines

4. nurses who are on pack 2 of their NMC application

5. nurses who have started their NMC application

6. nurses who have not started the NCM application - the hospitals will not consider these nurses

So please be aware as the list above we will be favouring nurses who are PIN, Theatre and NICU and those that have an NMC decision letter.

At present we are talking with various hospitals about nursing vacancies and will be in contact with you when we find a position for which you would be suitable. If however, your circumstances change (if you change jobs or accept another position and are no longer interested) then please contact me.

Remember if you are still to complete your NMC application then please do so and send me a copy when you have your decision letter, then I can ensure that you become one of the higher priority nurses.

So, I hope you understand the status at the moment and that you will appreciate that to date I do not have more definite information regarding the CoS situation.

Although at the moment this situation seems slow, we are sure that it will improve within the next few months as the NHS and Immigration work on a new way forward. The NHS objective is to use the taxpayers money more effectively, which is why they embarked on filling permanent posts with overseas personnel in the first place, rather than using the expensive ‘temporary staff’.

We know that there are many retirements due in the NHS within the next year and so there will be an even greater need to find qualified experienced nurses to permanently fill the positions, and, the NHS and government will once again be looking towards India and the Philippines to obtain these nurses who are so badly needed. So we anticipate the recruitment process to increase greatly in the following year and we expect to have an even greater requirement for the nurses to fill the positions.

Just emailed to me by my employer. It really does matter to get things working in the background. I already received my decision letter a week ago and am already waiting for my COS.

Get back on the order of priority, and take note of Number 6. Doesn't it pay to be OPTIMISTIC?

I do find it amusing that they are saying they prefer to go outside the UK for staff when I know of several areas in the UK where newly trained UK nurses are struggling to get work

Its exactly what I'm thinking too. My cousin works as a nurse somewhere in Yorkshire, and she honestly doesn't encourage me to pursue my papers for UK, at least not at the moment given the present employment situation and economy in UK.

What was written above perhaps is just a business strategy of that agency to keep their clients and not lose profits, just a thought, I may be wrong.

hey haroldleighton.. where did you get this message and from what agency are you? thanks!..

It's from the agency that facilitated my employer's interview last June. They are based in the UK and has 4 partner agencies in the Philippines. Knowing that Brits are true to their word, even if this UK based agency exists for profit (of course, it's a business organization in the first place), deception is not part of their tactics.

That's why they are so transparent and honest to us applicants, hence the message I posted which they emailed to us, their clients, so as we do not keep on assuming and hope on false reassurances. Most recent batch to leave for UK from this agency was just last July.

@haroldleighton: are you still here in the philippines? may i know the name of the agency based in UK as well as their partner agencies here in the Philippines. i have attended a lot of orientations from various agencies, and i can't seem to decide which one to choose. thanks

Hi job081985

On which stage are you now regarding your NMC application?

The most basic is that you have to narrow down your choices to those who are registered and licensed by the POEA. There are a lot out there who offer ONP sponsorship, only to find out that they are just immigration consultancy firms, and not overseas employment agencies. They should offer Tier 2 skilled worker visas for the ONP, not student visas.

Aureas Manpower and Greenfields International are highly recommended.

@haroldleighton: i already have my decision letter.. are you still in the Philippines? i heard a news that as of now, there is no available certificate of sponsorship.. what's the name of your agency? if it's alright with you? thanks

hi am new here just wanna ask regarding the nnmc pack 2..

am recently in the process of completing my 2nd pack and i have some problem with it.. beecause the hospital that i worked before does not have a dry seal.. whta should i do about it?... thnx...

Hi. May I just ask those who received their eligibility to do the ONP if any of you have total RLE hours below 2300. I heard rumors that some were issued eligibility despite this. Can anyone confirm please. Thanks.
