How to pay NMC application fee for overseas nurses

Published

Good day! I just received the request for application pack from the NMC, In the booklet it is said that I need to pay an application fee of 140GBP, i read that I can pay through check, bank draft or credit card. JUST THAT. There was no specific instruction on how to actually send your payment. Any overseas nurses out there who has already paid the application fee? how did you do it? if you used bank draft/personal checks, what banks do the NMC honor? Would really appreciate the help.

tnx.. can i secure a certificate of good health from our resident physician? but who will provide the dry seal for them? every form in pack 2 asks for dry seals. and im quite confused with the referee forms, they also ask for dry seal,, again who would provide those seals? thank you

yes, as long as he or she is a licensed MD. The dry seal will be from your employer. For the two referees, they are also from the office of who signed them. If they are from your employer then dry seals will be from your employer.

@haroldleighton

thank you so much for enlightening me regarding those matters. just some additional clarifications though...

1. should i first comply with the declaration of good health and have it stamped by my employer's seal before going to the PRC?

2. can anybody share the procedure on how i can have this form completed by the PRC. ex. do i have to pay any fees? is there any other requirement? is there a way that will hasten ths procedure? i heard it takes them roughly 3 weeks to send the docs to the NMC...is this true?

thank you so much everyone for being so helpful!^^

hmmm i really dont understand why a lot of you still wanna go on with your NMC when its really hard to find jobs in UK now. I actually dint continue with my NMC application. Just wondering thats all.

You never know when opportunities knock. So better be prepared now than scramble when there are already available jobs. At least when they come, you won't be concerned anymore with the NMC application since you are done with it. Won't it be good being prioritized because you already have your NMC as compared to those who still have to accomplish them?

@icey

there is another declaration of good health in the application form (separate from the PRC). That's what you have to accomplish. So you can process the PRC form and the declaration of good health simultaneously. I suggest you do some backreading in this thread for you to be guided more.

As for the PRC, go to the state board verification window (Window C, correct me if I'm wrong). You'll be given a yellow form. Go to the cashier to pay 75pesos, then go to the metered stamps window to pay for the stamps. Then return the yellow form together with a photocopy of your PRC ID and TOR, docu stamps and receipt to window C.

You will then be asked as to how to send back the form to the UK, (DHL, IEMS or registered mail.) I had mine sent thru DHL. After that you will be given a date as to when to come back to claim the accomplished NMC forms. (usually after one week.)

For DHL, it's 2200 pesos, for IEMS it's 1012 pesos. Both will arrive in roughly 3-5 days.

regarding the practice requirements, i had 10 months experience working as a staff nurse in a medical and surgical unit in a tertiary level hospital took a 1 year lay off(in preparation for other exams) and went back to continue gathering the xperience needed for NMC. its been 3 months now since i came back and i am still currently working at the same hospital. will the NMC consider that as 1 year experience? and will i qualify? tnx

Maybe... But NMC can be processed in 3 months. Visa, lets see 6 months the least. We need work permit too, and even when you have the NMC doesnt assure you priority over other applicants. Priority is still for UK citizens, Europe, then the rest of the world.

Lemme quote someone from England who said.. "UK is a sinking boat". Just have second thoughts thats all. Good luck with applications! :)

The world is round. There are good times, there are bad times. If it is your choice not to pursue with the NMC, try not bringing down those who are still optimistic with it.

Nope not bringing down anyone here. Remember this is a public forum and people actively share insights here, so if you want to join on here keep an open mind and don't misinterpret posts and try not to be hostile towards other professionals. No opinion is wrong. I was just stating facts based on the threads that I have read here directly coming from UK and European nurses :) You need to check on other threads regarding present situation regarding UK employment as well as new regulation regarding visa and work permit. :)

Its good that you are still optimistic regarding UK employment. I am too, but I guess I'm just pressing on the issue of frugality when I said I opted not to continue with my NMC application for now --if you know what I mean.

God bless!

Point taken. :) I'm not being hostile either. :) Like you, I was just stating what's on my mind. Anyway, Let's hope for the best. God bless too!

yup you are right... im here in UK now. I have my decision letter from NMC but then i cannot go to adapatation as i cannot find any employer. it is very hard here to get an employer and harder to get work permit as they prioritize EU rather than us. From september 2010 i think if im not mistaken nurses from EU doesnt need any exam to practice nursing here and they dont need work permit thats why employer in UK gets EU applicant rather than non-EU, easy processing and less expensive for the employer. NOw, NHS is not anymore offering adaptation for overseas nurses from non-EU. But there are some employers who still doing it but i dont know here they are hehe but i heard some news about it here. anyway just having you an idea. its hard here really hard. im not discouraging you but UK now is not the right place for overseas nurses, thats the truth. and as i heard on april 2011 cap immigration will be fully implemented this will limit each employer to provide sponsorship for work permit minimizing the entry of non-EU workers... anyway dont stop keep persuing your dreams whatever it is... Godbless
