How old were you when you began nursing school?

Published

Just out of curiosity - how old where you when you started nursing school and what kind of school did you go to before - i.e. high school, four year college, 2 year, etc.?

Personally, I am graduating with my BA in psychology in May and entering an ASN program in September so I will be 22.

:)

I'll be 19 (I'm 18 now and doing a program that's direct entry, so the first year is pre-reqs and you start nursing in the second year).

Received my BBA at 20, worked a 1.5 years for DOD and started my MBA (age 21), quit my job to finish my MBA and start ADN together at 22, finished MBA this past August 2008 and will complete my ADN in 6 weeks at age 23.

Specializes in NICU.

That sounds like me, Wannabesedated :)

I went to a community college for a year to 'get my prereqs out of the way', but it's harder to get into the prereqs there, so I got behind a year. I couldn't even consider A&P my first year, but at the university, AP is designed to be accesible to freshman. And then, my first year at the university, I screwed off in most of my classes, necessitating retakes. I finally got accepted to the program for this coming fall. My dad is relieved..he was afraid I'd be a career student. lol

I will be 31 when I start in May and 32 when I graduate.

Specializes in neurology, cardiology, ED.

I graduated with a B.S. in Food Service Management when I was 21, worked for 5 years, and decided that the business wasn't for me, so went back to CC to start my pre-reqs at 27, started NS at 28, and will graduate in May - two months short of 30 years old. My hubby is starting his pre-reqs now, and starting NS in the fall, he will be 43 when he graduates in '11!

I'll be starting the RN program this fall, a week after I turn 31. So I'll be 33 by the time I graduate!
