How much did your school uniform, name pins,b/p cuffs, patches, pens lights, stethoscopes etc cost you? was it expensive
I got my letter recently for my orientation and they told everyone to bring cash. I'm not sure how much everything usually costs. I know every place is different but I'm askin about the whereabouts.

So far, too effing much
i'm a single parent, i've been slowly buying stuff a little at a time for the past few months so i don't get hit with it all at once. SO FAR i've spent about $250 for 2 Littman stethoscopes, a BP cuff from allheart.com, a few penlights, a truly badass storage clipboard with a calculator on it, bandage scissors...and a couple other things i honestly can't think of right now. All i need are the cheap things, like alcohol swabs, pens, tape, etc...and scrubs. That's gonna be the killer. But i can't buy those till the last minute because going through 3 straight semesters (i took spring, summer, and now i'm going into the fall) has absolutely wrecked my cute little figure, so now i look like an elephant. A very short, bloated elephant. And my school is absolutely anal about the colours we have to wear, and i of course have nothing that will work. So as far as "bring cash," i really think you should ask your school what they had in mind. If they want to fit you for scrubs and force you into buying them on the spot, that might get a little pricey. If they want you to wait to buy books and make it a class trip...they're insane, but that's going to be worse. If they want you to buy your ID badge, you can probably find that in the sofa.
And if it's just orientation...they might mean "our vending machines/cafeteria people don't take cards."

My school supplied our nametags. My first stethosop cost $15 (you get what you pay for) I didn't like it because I couldn't hear anything and I bought a Littmann Cardiology III for $150. Scrubs are relativly cheap. Go to jasco.com or allheart.com or several others, they always have cheap scrubs. I ordered my scissors, penlight, and stethosope from there as well. You shouldn't have to buy alcohol swaps or tape. Your school should have some in the lab for practice and the facility you've got clinical obviously has these as well. The only thing I can think you'd need money for is books. If that's the case bring your checkbook or creditcard! I'd call your school and question this first. Good Luck!

Dont waste your money on alcohol swabs, tape stuff like that the hospital will have them and your school will have them for you to practice with....If you are worried about cost you can get things like your stethescope, penlight, scissors in packages for as little as 20 dollars. You do get what you pay for though so if you are strapped for cash I suggest that but if you have the money spend some on your stethescope, the other stuff pay as little as posible lol.
We got lucky and our school supplied two pair of scrub pants and two scrub tops our choice of size and style. They got a deal with a hospital and uniform supply shop. If not check out allheart.com and jasco uniforms online they have deals where you can get the top and bottoms for like as low as 9.99 a pair!
GOOD LUCK

Lets see if i can recall everything....
-White pants (a very specific kind, that have the 3 little pleats, straight legs, and and 2 inch thick waistband)...
-White button up scrub top with our patch sewn on, a white labcoat with patch
-Spygnomometer (with a cute froggie cuff, and matching froggie bag)
-Stethoscope (Littman Classic II)
-Penlight
-Watch
-2 pairs of white stockings
-A pair of nursemate white shoes
For a grand total of $272.00 (actually not as bad as i thought)
And this weekend, i have a coupon for 25% off my entire purchase at my local scrub store, and then its also tax free weekend (here in my state) so that 33% off my purchase, so im going back for a second set of clinical scrubs (for the times when a patient throws up on me, i may not want to continue wearing the same ones).

I would wait on the scrubs most schools tell you a specific color(s) or style that you have to wear. uniformcity.com has unifroms very cheap some are $7.99. Also got my b/p cuff from them for $9.99. They sell penlights and stethescope too. Patches the school sells so they make there own price ours were $1.50. Got my pen light and bandage scissors in a kit that they school supplied for $40. Stethescope is and ultrascope I got for $90.
I would call the school and ask specifically how much money you would need to bring and if you want to get things ahead of time where you can go locally because they may have specific requirements.

I got my card. III Litman from All Heart for super sale at $125. I see it at stores for way over that. I love the internet.
I was also lucky to find my required scrubs on clearance at a store - dickies cargo scrubs 2 pants for $16!! Then my shoes were clearance too... tops were $45
I have not bought much else... were are going to be given bags with supplies - but no news on needing a cuff yet.
I went to a life uniforms store for the scrubs and all heart on line for the scope.
GOOD LUCK!

Uniforms: $160 - we have to order them through the school's vendor
Stethescope: $45 - I did pick a Littman though.
Nursing skills pack (whatever that is, I haven't opened it yet): $80
I still need to buy my nursing shoes.
