I just went to check out my nursing roster and there are only 19 people starting my program in the fall! I don't know if they only had that many meet requirements or what. I thought in previous terms they accepted 40 but we only have 19 this year. Idk why but I cant complain about a small class size. How many are in your class? Id this strange to only have this many starting a class?
Started with 60. Lost 3 the first 8 weeks of the semester, gained about 10 more for retakes, then lost about 9 or so at the end of first semester. I believe we ended the first semester with 57 or 58 students moving on, but from what I hear were gonna get about 5ish more from 2nd semester retakes.
My program accepts 20 a semester. My program is an "extended campus" of one of the state's Universities. The main campus takes 30 a semester, another extended campus takes 10a semester, and one other takes 10 a year!
I haven't decided if I like the small cohort size or not... There's pros and cons. The most obvious, with a small class, it's easy for everyone to be very close and help each other out.... One the other hand, if it is cliquey or competitive, there is not escaping. I have my fingers crossed for a close cohort, but I guess we'll have to wait and see!
In my diploma program they usually except around 60. But after the second term our class is down to forty. They really tried to ween people out this term, which I understand you can just give anyone a nursing degree. Especially the people that either just don't understand the material or don't care to learn it.

My BSN program started spring 2013 with about 125ish that was the highest my school ever admitted cuz they changed the admission process afterwards, about 100 in summer 2013 and I for see about 75 passing it looks like about 25ish fail or drop, now ppl that fail still get to retake one class but getting kicked out, so I think about 75 will graduate in our dec 2014 class...
