UAB MSN fall 2017
I haven't received a letter yet. I was a student and was an employee at UAB at one time. Same BlazerID. And it shows me under the Psych CRNP program, and I now have an advisor listed.

Questions / UAB
I applied to the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner track for Fall 2017 and did not choose a second choice, either.

A safe nurse to pt ratio?
I work at a UHS facility on a 35 bed adult unit. Usually there are two nurses for 35 patients--3 nurses per 35 patients on a good day when staffing doesn't suck.
-
What was your first Nursing job?
I graduated in Aug. 2015. I began working as a Charge Nurse at a UHS mental health hospital in Sept. 2015. I'm already looking at other jobs. The pay is not worth the stress of staffing and administration.

JSU's College of Nursing no longer accept students just by GPA alone. They take in consideration your ACT score, too. In the past fall semester, a 3.55-3.6 GPA has been the last accepted GPA before ACT scores were also required. I believe they do 70% GPA, 30% ACT from what another user posted on the forums. Good luck!

What is a "passing grade" for your nursing program?
My program requires a 69.5 to pass a nursing course.

Nursing school schedule
I'm in a BSN program. Every semester is generally the same. The first month is lecture, M-F from 8:15am-2:30pm. On the second month, clinicals start. Our schedule then changes to Monday lecture 8:15am-2:30pm, Clinical on Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday is an off day, and Friday lecture is 8:15-12:30pm.

JSU Fall 2014 Applicants?
I was admitted for Fall 2013. I got my letter on July 17th. Good luck! The program is intense, but it's passable. FYI, the last GPA admitted last year, if I remember correctly, was a 3.69. I'm not sure how important the GPA is now that they require an ACT score.

Failing....? Your school's policy?
My college only requires a 69.5 to pass a nursing course. Clinical is either P/F. If you fail clinical, you fail the course. You are only allowed to fail two classes. You have to take each failed class alone in one semester. You must also finish the program in less than 7 semesters or fail.

When does/did your semester end and how did you do?
Congrats! My first nursing semester ended on the 6th. Here were my grades: Foundations of Nursing--B Pharmacology--B Health Assessment--B

Sorry for the late reply. But, the CPR card has to be an American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider or an American Red Cross (can't remember which type). However, I think they are lenient on the CPR types. They allow you to get your CPR from anyone/anywhere. It just has to be current and not to expire during the semester. ATI is a program-long platform for testing and remediation. You don't have to worry about ATI at all. They sign you up and walk you through the process the second or third day. It's really expensive, though, but you get 5 semesters worth. Feel free to email me at [email protected] (without the dots) if you have any more questions.

Be sure to get your CPR appointment set-up ASAP. It takes forever to get your card. Also, get your immunizations ASAP. Some of those can be time consuming, especially TB and Hep. B. It you need any help, feel free to PM or email me. Also, if you need a schedule bill for financial aid or scholarships, be sure to tell them, so they can register you early to get your money!

I am finishing up my first semester at JSU's nursing program. It's not really difficult, just time-consuming. In my pre-reqs, I made all A's. My grades so far is this term are: Foundations 89, Pharmacology 88, and Assessment 84. Test questions are tricky but passable. I only studied for each test maybe two hours, and my grades showed for it. I've only made 3 A's throughout the semester, the rest were B's. You can do it. Don't stress over it. Here is the level one calendar for spring.http://www.jsu.edu/nursing/PDFs/Calendar1-SP.pdf Good luck!
