How many of you are married to or date someone in the Medical Field?

Nurses General Nursing

Just a curious question. I have not known that many people in the medical community, but of those I did every single one either married or dated someone else in a medical profession. Is it really that common? And if so did you meet your SO at work?

A totally silly question!

My fiance is a cop :) Not in the medical field, but also in a public-service type career. I have heard that there are many nurses romantically involved with those from the law enforcement career, and it makes sense to me!

I used to date a cop, years ago. He and his friends told me that cops liked to date nurses because they understood the irregular hours. The hours, I understood.

Once, about 25 years ago, we had a bowel-fixated LOL come into our unit with a suitcase full of laxatives, enemas, etc. She wanted an enema from us, but her attending said absolutely not. So after hours of begging everyone that came near her for an enema, she gave up and called 911, claiming that we were holding her prisoner! A couple of very young cops came up to our unit to "check out her story." Seems they wanted to meet some nurses . . . . They ended up hanging out drinking coffee for hours, and one of them dated a co-worker of mine for months afterward.

My partner is an RT in a pediatric hospital, but we didn't meet at work. We met on the internet...I'm in the UK and my partner is in the US. I'm waiting for my green card so we can move in together but we've been waiting nearly 3 years. It will happen soon though...can't wait.

My husband and I met in Kindergarten!!!!!

My husband is a project manager. In a previous life I dated a police officer, a lawyer and a physician who was A LOT older than me. I almost married the police officer, but then I met my husband and that settled that. He's everything I've ever wanted in a partner and so much more :blushkiss I wouldn't trade him for the world.

I haven't dated anyone in the medical profession, but I sure would like too!

My girlfriend is an OR nurse. I'm working on my prerequisites for nursing school (I've been a technical writer for almost 10 years).

Specializes in midwifery, ophthalmics, general practice.

my soon to be ex-husband is a biochemist. we met on night duty. sometimes he totally lacks common sense................

Gee, now I'm kinda depressed! Been married (((((coughing))) a few times to non-medical personnel. Maybe I should have listened to that song "Looking for love in all the wrong places" a few more times!! LOL!

My husband of 33 years was a police officer when we met & married in my senior year of nursing school. He went to nursing school & graduated the year our 1st child was born. It has been wonderful for us & I always recommend it to other nurses. However, I have far more collegues with non-medical mates than with. I love being married to a sensitive & caring nurse & wouldn't have it any other way. Also, male nurses know how & aren't afraid to take care of the kids.

Specializes in psych.

My husband is a physical therapist and specializes in ped. burns. I believe he is the smartest man alive when it comes to the body. A Dr. told him he should consider becoming a Dr. but he refused and said God has lead him where he is and this is what he should be doing. Sorry, don't mean to brag but he really does love his job. I hope once I become a nurse or future CRNA (oneday hopefully) I'll be able to say the same thing. It's nice because he can pretty much explain questions I have about the body and I can ask without feeling I'll be looked at stupid, like professors do sometimes.

My girlfriend and I are about to enter nursing school.

Specializes in Med-surg; OB/Well baby; pulmonology; RTS.

My hubby works with cattle.....:D
