As a surgical nurse I can tell you that the surgical procedure for removing salivary stones is generally very simple. In some cases the stone was expressed through a duct or very small incision. Ask the ENT Doc to explain how the surgery is done & you might change your mind & decide to go for it.
  2. My husband of 33 years was a police officer when we met & married in my senior year of nursing school. He went to nursing school & graduated the year our 1st child was born. It has been wonderful for us & I always recommend it to other nurses. However, I have far more collegues with non-medical mates than with. I love being married to a sensitive & caring nurse & wouldn't have it any other way. Also, male nurses know how & aren't afraid to take care of the kids.
  3. The biggest problem we have with the filing of incident reports is a computer program that is NOT user friendly. There is very little fear of punishment, etc. because we make a very conscious effort not to use them in that way. The surgeons like to demand an incident report when they are unhappy because they want to punish someone but it just doesn't work that way. Most people who don't file reports just don't want to struggle with the computer. If we had a better program we would have better compliance.
