Big Difference here, she is already in the US, and an AOS has been filed on her behalf.
Margo, Just speak with your immigration attorney, there is a document that is good for about one year and will permit you to leave the country, the cost is about $150 or so, and you can use that to visit your family. Your attorney has to file it for you, then you need to wait until you receive it. That is all, you do not need the green card in hand before you will be able to see them.

Last week I talked to the attorney, and he adviced not to go home with this travel card. It's better to wait for the GC and then go, he said.
Sorry, but I do not agree with that. Others use it all of the time to return home. And for other reasons. And have never had any issues because of it.
He said that INS is not an issue here. As soon as I get the travel document, I can legally:) travel. The thing is, I'm putting my job at risk. If I lose it because of my traveling, I'm in trouble...
I don't know Suzanne..., I'm confused:uhoh21:
Nurses, who already got their Green Card, how long did it take, guys? Please, share...I know it's long ways to go for me (I applied in december 2005), but I just wanted to have a little idea on when to plan my trip home.
Suzanne says those dates on INS site are not always exactly accurate...
Those, who haven't received their GC yet are also welcome... How long have you guys been waiting already?:)
Thank you!
Hi everybody: I applied, being out of the US, on Feb 7th, 2005. My application was approved on April 13th, 2005.
For different reasons I delayed, on purpose, the process. It was forwarded to NVC on July 16th, 2005. Had the Embassy interview on October 20th. After that, I entered US on Dec 3rd. and before the end of the month got my Green Card on the mail (I don't remember the date), it was before the 27th.
