Nurses, who already got their Green Card, how long did it take, guys? Please, share...
I know it's long ways to go for me (I applied in december 2005), but I just wanted to have a little idea on when to plan my trip home.
Suzanne says those dates on INS site are not always exactly accurate...
Those, who haven't received their GC yet are also welcome... How long have you guys been waiting already?:)
Thank you!
Because of where you are located, I would speak to them now to find out when it would bwe a good time for you to be able to go. You can usually forget about the summer months as a new hire, etc.You may have to take it unpaid, but at least you can find out when it would be convenient to see your family. Vacation requests are usually do in six months in advance, and with some units, one year. So best bet is to just speak with them.
Thank you, Suzanne! :balloons:
I was thinking the same about the summer months:)
I'll speak with them asap, and see what they say.
Yeah, my Attorney sent my docs at the end of November. The EAD is the employment authorization which enables you to start working while waiting for the GC to be processed. I actually looked for my own Attorney, paid the legal fees and filing fees. The hospital accepted to do the paper work and provide supporting documents.
I think if you suggest to the hospitals that you are willing to cover the cost, they would consider you. Goodluck!
Hi,could you pls explain further this EAD and the rest.so you got your EAD in about 3wks?
Am still looking for an employer to do the petitioning for me. most of them are not willing to do it.
Which state do you live? Try big hospitals? Did you get your degree over here? It should n't be difficult to find an employer who is willing to petition for you.

Just explain it to them that you will be able to work as soon as you get your EAD. And you just have to get hired first.
They probably think that you can't work legally in US and that's it.
Most of the people don't know anything about foreign nurses, work permits, and I-140's.
