  1. Finally the long wait is over. I am starting May 18th. Hopefully everyone's process will have positive outcome. I learned to be patient during this whole ordeal
  2. Try Albany GA. We have a lot of positions and they still hire new grads without BSN. Its critical right now in that they are paying us $100 more per critical short staffed day especially Friday-Monday. You can PM me if you like more info! Med-surg is where the significant need is!
  3. You and me both are ready for that call. The director had signed mine!
  4. Yes, clinical instructors are great references they know your nursing skills and your potential. Just give her/him heads-up!
  5. I don't have a final offer yet as you can see my story above. They will call you first with an offer, they might tell you the pay up-front or they might not. After that they will send u Vetpro and Equip, may be not Equip. It differs greatly. Vetpro will ask you for references,. I put down the same people as in my application. They did call ppl from my application before they gave me a tentative. My ex-director said they sent her a link to respond to, that was after they gave me an offer. So, in my case they did call and also sent that link.
  6. That seems quick! Congratulations! My file is ready for the director's signature which I was informed yesterday that it can take 7-30 days to obtain. I was interviewed Oct 23, tent offer 12/02, Vetpro completed 12/07, E-quip 12/18, physical and fingerprints 2/2/2015. My Vetpro specialist emailed me 2/2 to inform me that my file was complete ready for approval by the Board, they were to meet 2/5, but didn't they met 2/10 and approved my file. So I am just waiting on that nice call or email with firm offer and start date. I didn't have to do dimensions or whatever it is that determines grade/step. I was given grade/step and salary initially!
  7. Thanks, RNsWe, this process is something serious. I am satisfied with their offer because at my current work, we haven't had a raise in 4 years, if I had a full time position, my base pay will be laughable. Hopefully all goes well with the background check, I am waiting on physical and whatever is next. VetPro submitted yesterday. By selling my self, I meant to elaborate on those dimensions, and send letters from patients, coworkers, my boss and all kind of education hours. My evaluations too are really nice, I wouldn't mind sharing with them. Anyway, that doesn't matter now. I just sit tight and pray. I am ready for a change hope is for the best. Thank you all for this thread!
  8. I was just sharing what is happening in my situation; I was told by my recruiter that the board determined my grade and salary by reviewing my resume which basically consist of everything necessary to conclude on my experience and education. I didn't ask my recruiter if the board will still meet again at the end, that is why I ask my fellow nurses if anyone had something like that happened to them. Don't I wish I was given an opportunity to sell my self more by completing the dimensions that most on this thread been completing? Yes. I guess facilities differs around the country even though the norm is for the board to meet at the end. I received email Friday with information to go to Vetpro which I am going to work on today.
  9. Hey VA nurses, I have few questions, I know I might be overly excited right now. Here is my story. I am RN, BSN and Med surg-Certified nurse with 9 years of acute care experience been working in the same civilian hospital but moved around, on my 3rd department now as a float pool nurse. I had an interview at the VA hospital in GA, mid October this year, Dec 2nd (Tuesday this week) nurse recruiter called me with a Tentative offer saying they are offering me Nurse 2 step 7 and told me the salary. She asked if I was accepting this or not. I was like "I accept". She told me that all this is tentative because I am going to go through background check and Physical if there is anything they find they can rescind the offer. I am not worried about anything they might find. She told me she is gonna hand over my file to HR and I will hear from HR by next week, I said "next week"? She said "yes I am sorry that things don't move as fast in VA". I am glad that she was honest with me, so I am waiting on HR personnel to call me and I am so ready to go through all that lengthy process. At least I have a job right now, so I am occupied. Any way, my questions; #1 were you guys given a salary and Nurse grade and step during your tentative offer; #2 Did the final offer change from the tentative offer after submitting all required paperwork I've been reading about on this thread? Thank you guys in advance and wish me luck.
  10. I will say Med/Surg in terms of good experience and employability in long run. Have you seen job advertisement. says (preferable med/surg experience). Also day shift gives you more experience. You meet more MDs, procedures are done during day time, discharge teaching. It is challenging but I feel like I've learned more then my friends who chose night shift.
  11. I'm from South Africa, city of Durban. I live in Albany, Georgia USA for now.
  12. Which state do you live? Try big hospitals? Did you get your degree over here? It should n't be difficult to find an employer who is willing to petition for you.
  13. Thank you, NurseMargo Yours will be fast too, in Jesus name. What is your service centre? Mine was Texas
  14. I applied in August 2005, received my GC in December 16 2005 (approval date on GC is December 09, 2005
  15. I think Texas is accurate, here is my story (RN) Everything was received by Texas on 19 August 05 EAD approved September 6th I-140 approved October 5th Finger printing October 13 RFE for I-485 repply, received by Texas on 23 November I-485 approved December 9 We received our cards and letters of approval on December 16 About 4 months everything was cleared, I thank God for that. I wish you all a quick and fovourable response from all these Service centers.
