  1. Hi friends, I received the magic email on wed April 19 stating that my application had been approved. I got my card in the mail on Monday 24 April. I will try to give some pertinent dates of the process. Docs: I-140,I-1485,EAD sent on Nov 29 2005 to Texas Service Centre. Receipt date Dec 2 2005 EAD received Dec 18 2005 I-140 approved Jan 16 2006 Fingerprinting Feb 01 2006 I-1485 approved April 18 2005 Green Card received April 24 2005 I wish to thank everyone on this forum, for their contribution have been so helpful. Good luck to those still in the process. There might be some delays along the line but you will eventually get there! :monkeydance:
  2. USCIS schedules the fingerprinting for you. You will receive a letter from them showing the USCIS Support center, address, date and time to go do the fingerprinting. Make sure you have an identifying document like state ID. They also take a picture of you .....so you might wanna look good!
  3. congratulations enfermeria! that was pretty fast. well, i hope mine goes fast as yours. my i-140 was approved on jan 16 and i did fingerprinting on feb 01. i also sent in all required documents and service center was texas.
  4. I don't think we can really rely on the dates given on the USCIS website. My receipt date is Dec 2 and my I-140 was approved on Jan 16. However they do provide an estimate which is better than having nothing at all.
  5. Yeah, my Attorney sent my docs at the end of November. The EAD is the employment authorization which enables you to start working while waiting for the GC to be processed. I actually looked for my own Attorney, paid the legal fees and filing fees. The hospital accepted to do the paper work and provide supporting documents. I think if you suggest to the hospitals that you are willing to cover the cost, they would consider you. Goodluck!
  6. My service centre is also Texas. My receipt date is Dec 2. I received my EAD on Dec 21. Hope mine goes through smoothly.
  7. I happen to be in a similiar situation. My lawyer strongly advised me to wait for the visascreen cerificate explaining that my file will be kept on hold while waiting for the reply. This will delay the whole process. I have submitted all required documents and my status has been showing the usual 'Ready for Review' for close to a month now. I have called them several times but they keep on telling me my file is under review. I am under FI visa but not on OPT. The HR recruiter recommended a lawyer but I wasn't really comfortable with him and he was also quite expensive. The recruiter said she would work with any lawyer of my choice, so I located another one. I am paying the legal fees. So I guess you should just wait for the visascreen certificate.
  8. Thanks a lot for your response. I am concerned about when to quit school without violating my student status; after obtaing the EAD or when the I-140 is filed ('pending adjustee)? I am asking because where I intend to work/file documents is not in the same state where my school is.
  9. Hi everyone, I am a foreign trained nurse presently in the US on student visa. I have CGFNS and TOEFL. I hope to take NCLEX and TSE next month. I understand that I need the visascreen certificate to adjust my status. I have read from this forum that it is possible to get hospitals to sponsor/petition for the Greencard directly without working through an Agency. I would like if anyone could refer me to a hospital that can do that. I got info. that it takes about 90 days to get the EAD. My question is when the EAD is approved, is my status adjusted automatically? If so, to which type of visa/status NB; I donot fall under those countries facing Retrog......? I have 14 months of acute care experience.
