Looking at going to CNA school this summer, curious how long your class was.

Thanks!

Specializes in PACU, pre/postoperative, ortho.

Mine was about 8 wks, tues & thur 5p to 9p, saturday clinicals 5:30a to 2p

Specializes in Geriatrics.

About 4 weeks. First 3 were lecture and theory, last week was clinicals. Took place in the evening, which was convenient for me since I work during the daytime.

Specializes in Oncology/hematology.

5 weeks, 3 days a week, 8 hours a day: So, that equates to 120 hours.

Mine was 15 weekends, Saturday and Sunday.

I start this Friday. I believe it's 23 days total. It's spread over 10 weekends with a few Fridays thrown in.

I did my CNA in high school. It was my junior and senior year. So 2 years long. We did 1 year LTC then 1 year hospital for clinical. But if you do it in college it's less time. I think 2 semesters. If you look into the american red cross they do a CNA course in 6 weeks. Good luck.

Mine was 14 business days. Not sure why you would need more than that.

14 days?! Wow, how many hours?

For the state of MD, there's a certain amount of hours of lecture and clinical that needs to be met. My CNA was every Tuesday and Thursday 5-9pm, Sundays 1-5 (7-3 for clinicals). Started in February and ended the last week of April early May.

This was in 2007, I am having a hard time remembering what times we went. I remember going to class in the morning and having clinicals in the evening every day of those 14 except for the first day. I had the whole state tested deal so we must have had enough hours? Maybe I am recalling wrong!

Lol, its ok I can't imagine it only taking 14 days. We had communication classes, personal care classes, dementia classes, anatomy classes, ethics classes, so it was pretty extensive and I feel it prepares you well for working in the healthcare environment.

It depends on the state. I did mine in a semester which was 16 weeks Monday through Wednesday 9 am to 12 pm and Thursday clinical day from 2 pm to 11 pm this is in IL by the way
