How should I dress for my first day?

My first day of orientation is this upcoming Monday. As far as I know for clinicals we are going to have to wear uniforms, but I'm not sure how to dress for regular class as it was never mentioned to me by my dean. I figured since it's summer I might just wear some kakhi shorts with tennis shoes and maybe a button-up shirt with the sleves folded up (descriptive, I know ;)). I just don't want to look disrespectable or anything.

How did you all dress for your first day of class? Thanks for helping me out.

I think I wore a pair of cargo pants and a sweater. Nothing spectacular lol.

hi joshua,

i think the outfit you picked out sounds good. nothing to dressy or casual...you'll probaly be there a long time.

good luck and have a good first day!

hmm.. I think they are lucky if I comb my hair.. lol. Honestly, during class time, at my college, no one cares what you wear as long as you have clothing on. clinical is another story. We are told, right down to our sock color what to wear

what you describe should be fine

Have a great first day!

This is so lame I can barely type it, but I have had my outfit for the first day picked out for months. I have the cutest wrap sleeveless empire waist embrodeired (I have no idea how that is actually spelled, but you get the point) wine colored shirt I wear over a beige cami (so the twins don't decide to make their debut in the middle of class!), w/ some dark jean capris and cute leather slide sandels. I have pictured my first day w/ that outfit, and I have not wore it in over 3 weeks for fear it will get stuck in the laundry rotation too long!! Anyway I am counting the hours till Monday, but I'm so scared for it to come too!!

sigh.. to again be so excited for that first day. I remember the aniticipation, pre reading assignments. Now, I go back in a week for year 2 and I'd almost rather stick a fork in my eye.

Moongirl...you're crackin' me up!! :)

Anywho...our professors told us to wear something comfortable. I plan on wearing shorts/or capris, tank top, and flip flops. People at our orientation were pretty casual, so I decided that if I'm gonna sit in lecture from 8am-3pm, I'm going to be comfy :)

Usually after the first day, students would be more concerned about passing exams and passing clinical check offs than what they wear...That is more important, in my view

At my orientation we had a range from sweat pants/ tee shirts and flipflops to dress up pant suits & dress shoes. Most of the guys either wore jeans or kakhi's. Have a great orientation! Just wear what make's you feel most comfortable.

Is fun to think back to when your first day's outfit was important (I'm sure it was important to me too)...trust me, after a month even, it will be the last thing that you will be thinking about or planning for. My advice to everyone: stay away from: revealing clothes for the ladies (low cut, belly or hips out, braless halters- I've seen it all!), wrinkled/dirty duds (looking like you wore same outfit to school that you slept in), stupid/offensive slogan T-shirts and wearing purple colored bangs with blond hair. Otherwise, anything neat should be fine! Never knew a student to be kicked out of school the first day because someone didn't like their sense of fashion...

:yeahthat: :chuckle: REally, I can't believe I am starting back tomorrow!! IT is crazy and I am not ready.

Im right there with you!!! Except now Im think of changing the shirt!!!!!

Anyway, one thing I am thinking about doing is taking a "before" picture of myself tomorrow morning before orientation and then a "before" weight :uhoh3: on the scale......

and then taking "after" photos and "after" weight :uhoh3: :uhoh3: :uhoh3: in December 2007!

 :mortarboard:
