Hi everyone, I've noticed that a lot of you guys took either Kaplan or Hurst. I decided to go for Hurst because I believe that a strong core foundation is the key to help me pass.I just have questions for those people who took HURST review. I finished the online material, but then on the final thoughts Aunt Marlene said I have to know the core content without a doubt or hesitation, and must know the topics and explain them the same way they teach it at Hurst.
Does that mean I need to memorize everything the lecturers said and not just simply understand it? I'm scared because this is my second time taking the NCLEX, I failed the first time and there's so much pressure on me right now, everyone wants me to take it, but I don't feel ready yet.
The last time I took the exam was Sept 27, 2011. And then there was an eligibility issue in California, and I was no longer allowed to retake the test. It was very frustrating because they already let me sin in for the exam the first time. But those are their standards and I can't do anything about it. I either go back to school in California or move to another state, and I chose move and I just recently received my ATT from Nevada.
I really want to pass this time. And I believe in Hurst I just want to know how to maximize the learning material. Thank you so much.
All other inputs on how I can study better the second time around will be greatly appreciated.
Congrats on getting your ATT in Nevada. I know my friends had to go through the same problem with California board because of their new law and they decided to go back to school........way back in the Philippines. Its my second time also in taking the NCLEX and I'm also going the Hurst review route. I think Aunt Marlene wanted us to memorize while understanding at the same time but more on the understanding aspect so that we can rationalize related topics on the NCLEX. Once you understand what they're trying to tell you then NCLEX questions become easier to answer.
Hurst helped in so many different ways. I've been getting alot more questions correct on all my practice exams, before 55% to now 85%. so it definitely helps to know your core content and understand them. I hope this helps and good luck to both of us. I'm taking my exam mid May so best of luck.

what eligibility issue you are talking about?
I am an international educated nurse and there has been concurrency issues regarding my clinicals and theory.
it is impossible in my country to be able to complete 5 deliveries, 5 cord cares, 5 assists, 5 major surgeries and 5 minor surgeries all in one semester.
and as to the rules and regulations of the CA BRN these cases must be completed on the same time I was taking the theory classes which as I have said impossible. Student nurses in my country take around 2 years (3rd year and 4th year) to be able to complete all cases and sometimes other students needed what we call as completion clinical duties at the end of the year just to be able to complete all these.
this is why i am deemed ineligible.
