I'm thinking about taking chemisty, but how hard is it as compared at anatomy or microbio? Should I take it in the summer? I had a A/B in anatomy and a B in microbio if that helps.
thanks.

The math really only requires basic algebra skills for the most part but in the context of a chemistry problem, I think it just freaks people out. A lot of the problems were conversions but you have to make sure that you set it up properly and when you're given moles and asked to convert to grams and you're wondering if you need to use Avogadro's number, it can get a bit hairy if you let it.
I just did a ton of practice problems to get it all down pat.

How hard is the chem math? I ask because I am not a math person, I was scared to death of stats math, and it turned out to be a breeze for me. Is chem math really hard to wrap your head around, or is just practice like any other relatively simple math? Is it worse than college algebra?

It's not even hard. It's basic multiplication/division and you use a calculator. It's dimensional analysis that screws people up, or rather knowing where to put what, based on the wording of the problem. You really have to know what you're being asked.
Practice makes perfect. Do a couple hundred chem practice problems and you'll ace every test...provided you do them correctly of course.

So, you would all recommend to take all the required math courses first before attempting Chemistry? I did really well in A&P's...but Chem scares me.
I already picked up Chemistry for Dummies too! LOL!

Yes, I would recommend you have a good foundation in basic mathematics. At the level of basic chemistry, the stoichiometry seems to get many people. Having a good handle on basic algebra and dimensional analysis can be a life saver. Most chemistry courses include a section on thermochemistry and gas laws, again math will come in very handy here as well.
Thanks! I have taken the first level Math 98....but I need to take 2 more maths for the RN pre-reqs...I think I will take all of those first before I attempt Chemistry. I want to keep my 4.0 GPA!
Thanks again!!
Happy Holidays!

Chem is very different from A&P. I found it easier, there is one main concept dimensional analysis, once you got that down the rest is easy. Chem can be done over the summer no problem.
